That's the problem with any kind of centrally-administered health care...they have rules and if you don't fall within the parameters of the manuals, you are just out of luck.

The only way out is to get rid of centrally controlled health care and put it back into the hands of individuals.

22 stones is 308 pounds (or 2,156,000 grains for the firearm enthusiast).

It sounds like the NHS has determined that letting the man die is far cheaper than this surgery and then years of being in the NHS.

You are right, and even then, you sometimes have to fight with insurance companies to get some things that you need. I will not get into the details, but Blue Cross is a company that I am very happy with at present. They would rather spend a dollar on band aids than ten cents on a fix.

Killing off a 62-year-old 22 stone man within a year is not a bug as far as the NHS is concerned. It’s a feature.

He should just move here, get on assistance and they will do it for free.

My former brother in law quit working a few years ago and claimed post tramatic stress from the collapse of the market in the late 90s and 9/11. Mind you, he was no where near anything that happened on 9/11 and was not injured, but he was put on disability anyway. He went up to 500 pounds, and last year the taxpayers paid for his surgery.

The unsaid bottom line is that he is 62 years old, and they would prefer that he die instead of costing them money.
