Dan Cooper, who helped launch Fox News as managing editor in 1996, said that a “brain room” carried out “counter intelligence” on the channel’s enemies from its New York headquarters. He was threatened after it found out he spoke to a reporter, he claimed. Another former senior executive said the channel ran a spying network on staff, reading their emails and making them “feel they were being watched”. The channel, which has come under pressure amid allegations that outlets owned by Mr Murdoch might have attempted to hack the voicemail messages of

“Not seeing anything here that suggests anything other than everyday corporate America. Not defending the people involved in the phone hacking scandal mess, but this ‘former exec’ sounds like he’s full of beans.”

That’s my take on it too.

I’ve built systems for a fortune 500 company to watch and analyze the news ... and determine relationships between every person and organization mentioned in the story.

This allowed us to understand ‘who’ we were talking to in meetings... and possibly their ultimate intentions

It’s only prudent for any company with any serious worth

I think there’s probably some kind of conflict not known to us that has got Mr Former Exec into the vengeful mode.

That said, probably every tabloid in the UK was doing the same thing. Tabloid journalism in the US is now restricted to a couple of supermarket papers that talk about space aliens, but in Europe it’s still a mixture of celebrities (photographed at awful moments by paparazzi with long lenses), royals (normally treated well) and gruesome true crime stories supplemented by...inside information, mostly obtained by dubious means.

So when they wring their hands at Murdoch, they’re being disingenous at best and ravingly corrupt liars at worst. He should do a counterattack. Go to some of the other papers and find out how they got their info...

I agree there should be a counterattack but I doubt Murdoch is worried about these clowns.

This is related to the Media Matters War on fox news. Fox news struck back. Now Media Matters is coming in from the back door with a bum rush. It’s typical liberal strategy. All of the organizations are being engaged here in this fight. For the Liberal Media, it’s an existential battle to bring fox news down. Because they cannot tolerate an alternative voice.

What’s wrong with counter-intel vs. competitors. Think Volkswagen and Toyota don’t do it?

Investigative reporting equates to black ops to the lame stream media when not asking a lib what his most enchanting moment was while running the the nation into the ground.

Most of the “traditional” media is too stupid, lazy and bias to report on anything other than “dancing with the stars” or the political talking points of their political persuasion. Of course CNN, the saddam regime unofficial spokes person that suppressed the MURDER of their local hires in Iraq as to not be kicked out and remain there as the exclusive US news firm finds this scandal about their competitor a major story worth constant coverage and debate. lol

Thanks Nachum. Wow, imagine, a news organization that snoops into other people’s business. If this is allowed to continue, we’ll eventually have the private lives of politicians and other celebrities plastered on the lurid covers of magazines available on every supermarket checkstand.
