John F. Kerry almost became president running on the basis of his alleged heroism in Vietnam. Thanks to the efforts of a group of truth-tellers, the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth, the serious holes in the fantasy narrative propounded by the Kerry campaign came to the attention of enough Americans that John Kerry was not the first faux-Irish President of the United States.

If they start re-examining the medals handed out in Vietnam
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Not wanting to just ‘pick on’ a “D” Prez, but lets start with LBJ’s ‘Silver Star’ as a result of a flyover in a war zone.
Being on the Appropriations Program sure didn’t hurt his chances..

I think that the LBJ story is what influenced Hillary to relate her ‘Bullets were flying on the Tarmac’ story. The only thing in common was/is that both of them were in an area where there were combatants.....

Well, there are others. Fonda, Hayden, Ayers and Dohrn, just to get started.

Remarkably enough, the Boston Globe is now running the story.

Whatever it was, it was enough to keep him out of Yale Law School. The only reason Boston College took him is that their Law School dean happened to be a Jesuit by the name of Drinan who also served in the U. S. House—for whom, coincidentally, JFK campaigned.

“How do you get a story without getting the facts? “

You get permission from authorities after they give you a thorough mental exam.

Do you rob a bank to get material on bank robbers?

Or it could be another example of the RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY.

Naturally, the Globe makes a stupid mistake in the very first sentence:

The Navy Times has run a story saying that Wade Sanders, a Swift boat crewmate who introduced US Senator John Kerry at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, has been stripped of his Silver Star.

Sanders was never a crewmate of Kerry, nor did they go on any missions together.

Ben Smith has a terse, grudging report up at Politico.

how do you know for certain he was dishonorably discharged?
Isn’t there another type of discharge that’s not honorably, but not dishonorable?

I’ll still argue that they’re not in Kerry’s class. But who cares—this is a victory worth celebrating. There’s still time. What a lovely, pre-Aug. 2 surprise!

Glad you put that logo out there, Doc!

Well the Navy finally stripped him of one unearned medal but what about the rest?

Democrats, just when you think you’ve seen it all,
they reach in the muck and show you something newer
and uglier.

As I was told by my father (deceased).

Kerry was Court Martialed by the Navy for going to Paris and meeting with the North Vietnamese when they sued the U.S. for peace. He was still in the Naval Reserve at this time. As I remember it, it was a DD. Not a General under other than Honorable Conditions or a General Discharge.

Along comes Jimmy Carter, who pardons him and seals the record of the Court Martial.

Kerry did release some of the unsealed portion of his records, but he would have had to ask GWB to unseal the Presidentialy sealed portion.

It did come out at the time of the election, but the legacy media obviously did not report it. If I remember it correctly, the event was mentioned in an article posted here on FR, but maybe somewhere else.

It is because Jimmy pardoned him that it was not brought forward at the time. Because LEGALY it never happened.

Anyway, that's what I remember.
