The Minstrel Boy
By Thomas Moore
The Minstrel Boy to the war is gone
In the ranks of death you will find him;
His father's sword he hath girded on,
And his wild harp slung behind him;"
Land of Song!" said the warrior bard,
"Tho' all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!"
The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain
Could not bring that proud soul under;
The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again,
For he tore its chords asunder;
And said "No chains shall sully thee,
Thou soul of love and brav'ry!
Thy songs were made for the pure and free,
They shall never sound in slavery!"
“Walk Like a Man,” which, of course, was sung by Frankie Vallie singing like a girl :)

Song: Stout-Hearted Men lyrics
You who have dreams
If you act, they’ll come true
To turn your dreams to a fact
It’s up to you
If you have the soul and the spirit
Never fear it, you’ll see it through
Hearts can inspire
Other hearts with their fire
For the strong obey
When a strong man shows them the way
Give me some men who are stout-hearted men
Who will fight for the right they adore
Start me with ten who are stout-hearted men
And I’ll soon give you ten thousand more-ore
Shoulder to shoulder, and bolder and bolder
They grow as they go to the fore
Then there’s nothing in the world
Can halt or mar a plan
When stout-hearted men
Can stick together - man - to man...
Oh...
Give me some men who are stout-hearted men
Who will fight for the right they adore
Start me with ten who are stout-hearted men
And I’ll soon give you ten thousand more-ore
Shoulder to shoulder, and bolder and bolder
They grow as they go to the fore
Then there’s nothing in the world
Can halt or mar a plan
When stout-hearted men
Can stick together - man - to man...
(Give me some men who are stout-hearted men) [fade]

True story: My son while in middle school asked me why I gave him his name, which is an uncommon name. I was in a hurry and brushed the question off saying: "Just be glad I didn't name you Sue"
He did not say anything and I took him to school.
Fast forward 8 years. I get a call one day, he was stationed in Washington and he says:
"Dad! I heard it, I heard the song, now I know what you were talking about!"
"What are you talking about?"
"A boy named Sue", I just heard it, now I know what you meant that day"
.............
I had long forgotten that quick comment, but apparently he did not!

Spiders And Snakes
I remember when Mary Lou said
“You wanna walk me home from school”
And I said, “Yes, I do”
She said, “I don’t have to go right home
And I’m the kind that likes to be alone
As long as you would”
I said, “Me, too”
And so we took a stroll
Wound up down by the swimmin’ hole
And she said, “Do what you want to do”
I got silly and I found a frog
In the water by a hollow log
And I shook it at her
And I said “This frog’s for you”
She said, “I don’t like spiders and snakes
And that ain’t what it takes to love me
You fool, you fool
I don’t like spiders and snakes
And that ain’t what it takes to love me
Like I want to be loved by you”
Well, I think of that girl from time to time
I call her up when I got a dime
I say, “Hello, baby”
She says, “Ain’t you cool”
I say, “Do you remember when
“And would you like to get together again”
She says, “I’ll see you after school”
I was shy and so for a while
Most of my love was touch and smile
Til she said, “Come on over here”
I was nervous as you might guess
Still looking for somethin’ to slip down her dress
And she said, “Let’s make it perfectly clear”
She said, “I don’t like spiders and snakes
And that ain’t what it takes to love me
You fool, you fool
I don’t like spiders and snakes
And that ain’t what it takes to love me
Like I want to be loved by you”
