Rs need to pass something better anyway - but they need to have something in Reid’s lap. Can’t let the Dems or McConnell take over.

If u have not heard, Reid is going to take Boneheads bill, water it down and send it back over to the house. The foolish folks who supported this bill are about to be played.

Reid will pass what he wants in the Senate.

He needs 7 Repubs so he can't pass just anything.

If this passes it will do for the tea party what the passage of the Kansas-Nebraska act did for the GOP.

Thanks for making me look it up. I hope you are right!

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas-Nebraska_Act:

The Kansas–Nebraska Act of 1854 (10 Stat. 277) created the territories of Kansas and Nebraska, opened new lands that would help settlement in them, repealed the Missouri Compromise of 1820, and allowed settlers in those territories to determine if they would allow slavery within their boundaries and to settle there. The initial purpose of the Kansas–Nebraska Act was to create opportunities for a Mideastern Transcontinental Railroad. It became problematic when popular sovereignty was written into the proposal. The act was designed by Democratic Senator Stephen A. Douglas of Illinois. The act established that settlers could vote to decide whether to allow slavery, in the name of popular sovereignty or rule of the people. Douglas hoped that would ease relations between the North and the South, because the South could expand slavery to new territories but the North still had the right to abolish slavery in its states. Instead, opponents denounced the law as a concession to the slave power of the South. The new Republican Party, which was created in opposition to the act, aimed to stop the expansion of slavery and soon emerged as the dominant force throughout the North.

“The Dems have no fear of him now.”

They never did.

Yes, they are laughing at us.

But DeMint or someone needs to take John Boy aside and tell him to resubmit CCB. So while damaged, it could be salvaged. I won’t hold my breath.

CCB to the US Senate.

Up or Down Vote.

If UP, then to the President.

Sign the sonofabitch, Kenyan.

Either Sign or Veto it, you moron.

VETO AT YOUR OWN POLITICAL PERIL.

It's rather simple. August 2nd is not the end of the Country.

Then the Republic takes a.... well I will stop here for now, its late.

PS Each and every 2-12 REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE WORTH THEIR SALT SHOULD HAVE A DEFINITIVE PRINTED STATEMENT AND PRESS CONFERENCE ON THIS ISSUE TOMORROW MORNING. I for one know people like Cain, Bachmann, Santorum will do it. Palin should too, in the race or not.

I don’t remember being so ashamed of the Republican party in a long time... the lack of any respect for others, like John Boehner, is appalling.

I think I have had it, and I will be registering as Independent as soon as I can...

Tea party backers — why don’t you form your own political party? You are an embarassment to may Republicans.

“There is no way they are going to cut trillions from the budget. Just is not going to happen.”

Good post. Politicians spend money; that is what they do and all they know. Fiscal responsibility is simply not in their DNA. They will raise the debt ceiling, guaranteed.

As Margaret Thatcher said, eventually they will run out of other people’s money. Then the Great Government Ponzi Scheme will collapse.

August 2nd in reality is nothing. It was a date pulled out of Obama’s butt. No kidding.

They keep changing the date. What is this - the fourth date they tried to stick to a wall?

I heard today the date has been moved until the middle of August - end of August. Who knows.

The August 2nd date is a psychological date Obama is trying to scare everyone with. The markets and other.

Sad but true. The man knows no bounds. His evil is purposeful.

Democrat radical on CNN is now doing "homekoroshi" 褒め殺し(sarcastic, Japanese political tactic) by praising Boehner and dissing "radical Republican tea partiers".

Typical CNN.

Thanks for educating me on "homekoroshi"!

“Even former Mexican President Fox said on tonight on Cable that “The US is Broke, if it were a business””

This is one time that I wouldn’t mind seeing a Mexican president criticize the US in front of the US Congress.

Very complicated is right! I though I understood what was going on up in DC but the more zig zags happen the more confused I get. Someone wake me when it's over!

That's about how I feel too. I guess it's over for the night anyway, so I'll hit the sack and try to rediscover where we are in the morning. Prayers for the right things to happen for America.

“Looks to me like he hasn’t actually compromised on one dang thing considering the senate has vowed to kill his plan on arrival.”

So. You think the conservative backlash is a feint? Try hard to get a compromise bill through...but gosh, just can’t muster the votes due those rascally tea partiers?

” Boehner has his own style of leadership. I think it has been effective. so far. “ <<<<

Boehner messed up the first compromise, remember? The supposed cuts ranked with about a house payment it turned out. The caucus said that would never happen to them again. Most of them meant it. Boehner should have left Cut Cap & Balance on the senate table and walked. But no, he has us compromising not with the democrats who are smart enough to keep quiet, but with ourselves, downward from CC&B. With NO CUTS. Cuts in GROWTH are not cuts.

I read through this and other threads tonight and one word I haven't seen is Obama or even a WH spokesman.

Obama has been avoided like a large roadkill. Congressional democrats have realized they are chained to a political corpse and now it's every rat for themselves.

Now is not the time to throw them a life preserver.
