Top 10 Texas Democrats’ Complaints Against Rick Perry

Bryan Preston

On Wednesday, I received the same email from the Texas chapter of Organizing for America that the Dallas Morning News’ Todd Gillman received. In the email, the Obama team is trolling Texas for whiners to attack Gov. Perry.

The Obama campaign team is asking Texans to share complaints about Gov. Rick Perry, and compiling the critiques for possible use in Perry-bashing ads and other material – a sure sign the president’s advisers are taking no chances.

“Your feedback will help hold him accountable on the campaign trail, inspire fellow Texans to get involved, and introduce his record — his actual record — to voters across the country,” Hector Nieto, the campaign’s Texas director, told Texas supporters by email blast today. “Your words will remind him that even as he runs, he won’t be able to hide — a lesson he apparently hadn’t learned as recently as last week. That’s when his campaign explained that the positions he took in the book he wrote just nine months ago, like saying that Social Security is unconstitutional and `a crumbling monument to the failure of the New Deal,’ no longer represent his views.

“But what other Americans are just starting to learn about — and, frankly, reject — Texans have dealt with for more than a decade. It’s up to us to make sure he doesn’t get to run away from the truth.”

Nieto is so right. Texans have been dealing with the results of Rick Perry as governor for more than a decade. So right, in fact, that I’ve decided to draft a Top 10 list of the Democrats’ complaints against him.

10. Rick Perry is governor. Seriously, Democrats here complain about that a lot.

9. Rick Perry lives in a house that Texas taxpayers pay for. So has every other Texas governor, but that’s beside the point. Also beside the point: That Democrats were having their convention nearby when the Texas governors mansion burned.

8. Under Rick Perry, Texas still does not have a state income tax.

7. Rick Perry believes in God. For some reason, the Democrats in Texas have a problem with that.

6. Under Rick Perry, Texans are proud of Texas. Of course, Texans have always been proud of Texas, and Democrats have complained about that for decades, while insulting Texans and then wondering why Texans won’t elect Democrats.

5. Rick Perry has good hair. Very good hair. At many points throughout the year, this is actually Democrats’ number one complaint against Rick Perry.

4. Under Rick Perry, it’s harder for liberal trial lawyers to come up with scams to make themselves rich, so they can keep pouring money into the Texas Democratic Party. Or pay to keep major Democrats’ love child scandals a secret.

3. Rick Perry has cost the Democrats the Jewish cowboy vote!

2. Under Rick Perry, Texans’ tax burden is just too darn low, the state’s housing market is too stable, and too many Fortune 500 companies keep moving here.

1. And the top complaint that Democrats have against Rick Perry is that as long as he has been governor, there have just been too darn many jobs in the state of Texas.

You might be very surprised to find out that many of the nastier and most rabid posters with PDS are supporters of Bachmann, Cain or yes even Palin, although its usually a safe bet to suspect a basher to be a paulnut. You can usually tell the paulnutz because they never admit it.

In that neither are fit to be president, yes. Neither of them warrant my support.

You might be very surprised to find out that many of the most rabid posters against Perry, simply recognize him for what he has done in the past, and want no part of him, even if like me they haven’t settled on one candidate yet.

Bachmann and Cain are in the running, but that doesn’t preclude someone else jumping in and representing Conservatism well enough to get my support.

Perry will never get my support.

Quit dismissing objections by people who have more than enough valid reasons not to support Perry.

I can’t argue with that.

We’re in bad, bad shape.

OK, so you don’t even want to be doughty, now you just want to be grumpy.

This is meant to be a humorous and fun thread, I just don’t think you’re going to fit in. :-(

People just like you pulled this routine in 2000, and we were stuck with a RINO for eight years. People just like you pulled that routine again in 2008, and we were stuck with McCain going into the General Election that year.

Now I’m supposed to be some political malcontent, because I object to people pushing another RINO off on us?

Insult away. I couldn’t care less.

In that neither are fit to be president, yes. Neither of them warrant my support.

You should read some non fiction about our Founding Fathers, their deism, the Freemasonry, some had an outright hostility towards a Christian God. Some were womanizers, oligarchs, slaveholders, drunks, cheats and liars. Your perfect system run by perfect people does not exists, nor are we too look for it. You are free to sit home and pout and wallow in your own moral purity but come down off the cross brother, Jesus needs the wood.

Actually, I fit in quite well with Conservatives. I don’t fit in quite so well with people who think it’s a lark that Rick Perry is running for president.

It’s true enough that you aren’t saying you support Rick here, but these comments by Democrats kind of play into the mind-set that Perry isn’t all that bad, and only the crazies are down on him.

Perhaps I am too thin skinned about this, and if so I’ll take my deserved lumps for it.

The Dims are collecting complaints about Rick Perry? Are they too dumb to understand those are recommendations to a guy like me? (OK, did I really need to ask that?)

Well, I just wanted folks to have a laugh, a little innocent fun.

There’s plenty of threads around here where folks can rip in to Perry to their hearts content, that wasn’t what I wanted this one to be.

But, I’ve been around long enough to know that what I want is not always what I get. Freedom of speech and expression is a wonderful thing, so I’ve got no complaints, try to enjoy the rest of your day.

Are you aware that the Republican Party leadership in California has done less than nothing to help reverse what is taking place here? Are you aware that they abandon Conservative candidates and support Liberals? Are you aware that the national level Republican party makes no pretense of helping to get Conservatives elected in the state? Are you aware that there has been no concerted effort to win the state of California in a General Election for 22 years?

Are you aware of the fact that when Conservatives run for office in California, the Democrats pull in big hitters from all over the state, as well as the nation? At the same time, the Conservative gets one or two mid-level state figures, and perhaps one day-only visit by one mid-level national figure.

Are you aware that Gray Davis outspent Simon ten to one, and Simon still made a quite reasoned showing? Are you aware that if Simon had won, it would have changed California dynamically for the better?

He received no support whatsoever from the state or federal leadership.

Don’t wax rhapsodic on the condition in California, until you know what the hell you’re talking about.

There’s only so much the rank and file can do, without support from above.

Why do you think I am trying to warn you about Perry? It’s because he is the epitome of what the California Republican Party has lofted for us to vote for over the last couple of decades. I don’t want to see California go national.

If that disturbs you, too bad.

The more they go after him, the more support he gets. They aren’t very bright, are they? :)
