An overly-narrow and brittle mind finds many things unhelpful that others find valuable uses for.

The Delaware River south of Frenchtown is raising faster then the last model run, and that model run predicted major or close to major flood of the Delaware. The model predicted flooding as serious as the fifth largest recorded flood, the flood of 1936.

Thank you. I was thinking middle of the week - it'll take a while for the water to go down.

I walked outside in the rain a few minutes ago and couldn't believe my eyes - we have a river in my side yard here. Only leaking is the bilco doors and that is probably just the way it is blowing. At least we can't have the sewer backup like the last time I remember the side yard looking this way (that anti-backflow is finally showing me it was worth the expense).

"Officially" we had 5" of rain so far, but from past eperience it is close to double that. No, the media did NOT hype this storm too much.

So, is it a total blowout like Gloria was?? or is it a real hurricane for CT?

We'll find out soon. Rain and wind finally starting to pick up here. I heard it's worse in SW CT right now with thunder and lightning to boot.

Sounds like you're still in SC? Good for you, if so... CT is going to hell in a handbasket! It's 100 times worse than when you left.

Logging off in a few minutes... I really need some sleep. Good night for now...

FYI - St. Mary’s (MD) Fire & EMT scanner went silent as they went to secure channels. People talking on FB say they are calling in the National Guard.

Oh, I see............you find it "helpful" for a poster to post absolute hogwash, not to mention egregious lies ( i.e. that Mayor Bloomberg is still a nominal GOPer ) and then make patently ridiculous assumptions about why the idiot nanny stater took charge of shutting down things and calling for evacuations, in the face of Irene" ?

Hmmmmmmmmmm............so just who, is the one with "an overly-narrow and brittle mind" ? Surely, it isn't me.

Tornado watches for the tri-state area has been called now.

The same thing on a less well remembered scale happened with the Bush era response to the Indian Ocean Tsunami. We responded fast and large, and yet the slanderous and groupthinky vile liberal media claimed we were late and did less than others. They looked at promises of help, most of which failed to ever materialize. We actually rushed in to help immediately yet made few promises. Our carrier group was the first major relief on the scene.

Thank you once again for this fantastic thread, NautiNurse! And thank you for your companionship during this stressful event - humor always helps! :-)

I'm signing off for now... rain and wind really picking up now, and I really need some sleep.

If you don't hear from me in over 10 hours or so, you'll know we lost power... I'll be shocked if we have power when the sun comes up.

Good night for now, FRiend...

Essex Cty, NJ.12 miles from NYC.

Power just went out and not just a few houses. Thank goodness for my B’Berry’

It is going to be a long night, what with the threat of tornados, and the wind really picking up.

I was hoping that this was going to be a daytime thing. But not to be.Glad my B’Berry is all charged. We will put the generator on in the morning.
