Has Sarah Palin exhausted the patience of her supporters?
The Christian Science Monitor ^ | 08/24/2011 | Peter Grier

There is some evidence that while waiting for a potential Sarah Palin presidential run, her potential voters have moved on and now support other tea party-backed candidates, such as Rick Perry or Michele Bachmann.

Has Sarah Palin waited too long to announce she’s running for president?

(...) So if she does throw her snow machine helmet into the ring, she might start a White House race closer to the back of the pack than the front.

First, let’s address the waiting part. The former Alaska governor on Tuesday denied that she intends to announce a White House bid on September 3, (...)

(snip)

Palin might use the September 3 address to endorse another candidate. She might use it to make it clear she will announce at some point – Governor Perry used that same sort of slow-unveiling strategy as he edged into the race.

But the problem is at this point she may be exhausting the patience of potential Palinites.

(snip)

“I think Palin could get back a number of voters should she get into the race – people who gave up on her running and moved on to someone else. But, I do not think it would put her in a strong enough position to get into first or second place,” writes Erickson.

Some other analysts are less negative. In an opinion piece for CNN, political scientist Paul Sracic of Youngstown State University in Ohio writes that Palin’s on-camera optimism about America seems natural and akin to that of GOP icon Ronald Reagan.

“This offers at least the possibility that, despite her current low standing in the polls, she will be able to leap-frog over the more negative sounding Bachmann and Perry, and compete head-to-head with Romney,” writes Sracic.

Sarah who? Oh, the reality TV star that went fishing with Kate plus 8! She’s just intent on milking her celebrity for all its worth and translating that into dollars. She is the very opposite of a serious candidate.

Astronaut...

she has demonstrated an amazing ability to solve problems...

But she got in over her head, partially her own fault*, and resigned in Alaska.

Their tactics are rather transparent.

What if they did? Nothing permanent has occurred, votes have not been cast, and the moment she announces eveybody will flock back.

Author wishful thinking?

Not this one. If Mrs. Palin runs, she will get my vote.

And if she fails to win the nomination and our nominee is insufficiently conservative, she may get my vote anyway.

Back in May or June, everybody swore she’d declare around the Fourth of July. Then it was at the end of July, something to do with the lawsuit window in Alaska. Then it was August. Now it’s Labor Day.

Or October.

Got to keep sharpening that pencil and cracking that calculus.

Excellent summary. Bears repeating. Regards, Mr. Sol.

This also needs to be repeated.

A nugget from today's Pew poll that deserves a post of its own: Forty-one percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters say there is "no chance" they would vote for Sarah Palin in a presidential race. ... That's the second-highest rejection rate of any Republican candidate, exceeded only by Newt Gingrich, who was ruled out by 48 percent of respondents. .... These are not the only reality-check numbers for Palin this week. A Gallup survey released yesterday showed that in a race that includes all the current candidates, plus Palin and Rudy Giuliani, the former Alaska governor would draw 11 percent of the vote — tying Paul for third place.

And those extremely toxic general election numbers are from REPUBLICANS.

Among ALL voters, the August 2011 FOX News Poll showed that 75% of ALL voters believed that Sarah Palin would NOT be a good President.

In the Rasmussen Poll, which usually polls Republicans better than they actually perform in elections, Obama absolutely slaughters Palin in the latest poll:

August 22, 2011 ... Obama 50%, Palin 33% ... If Election Day was right now, President Obama would defeat the former Alaska governor 50% to 33%, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. This marks the first time that the president has risen out of the 40s in hypothetical matchups with any of the major GOP presidential hopefuls.

If the ultimate goal is to defeat Obama in 2012, a Sarah Palin GOP nomination is suicidal.

Oh, geez. What if Sarah doesn’t run and endorses Perry?? She campaigned for him in ‘10.

I'm willing to risk it. At least Palin knows how to fight.

She’s running, there’s no doubt about it. It’s why she resigned as Governor. She’s working on Fox, they are helping her with her campaign, by letting her get away with pretending to not know if she is running. Now she’s ticked at Rove for saying he believes she is running, because that’s not with the program that Fox news is following, they are all supposed to be pretending that they don’t know. So what does Palin do? She makes a false accusation against Rove that he said he had insider information. Rove never said anything about insider information. Nice lady, that’s who I want running the free world, someone who doesn’t get it that the ends don’t justify the means.

I hope she announces sooner rather than later. At least the more viscious sniping amongst conservatives that might otherwise get along with each other can wind down a bit.

Meanwhile the Texas governor lied to the electorate regarding his intentions. And now is running on their dime.

Character counts. He is lacking.

So, helping Marxist Obama get reelected to finish destroying America is supposed to be a good thing and something to brag about?

This is where the irrational adoration of any politician becomes destructive to the very survival of America.
