The news of Governor Rick Perry jumping into the Republican nomination race for president released a media tsunami that assaulted my brain. In no time at all, people came up with a long list of negatives about him. In a democracy, honest and thorough scrutiny of anyone's records seeking a public office is not only the prerogative of the electorate, but its duty.
Being a lifelong critic of Islam, red flags popped up in my head at Perry's purported cozy relationship with Islam and prompted me to look very closely at the governor's record on this particular issue and at this specific time.

The nuggets of the Muslim history curriculum Perry helped coordinate in Texas are summarized below. It says:
1. Countries of Western Civilization have secular governments, which means great toleration of cultural and religious differences.
2. Countries of Islamic Civilization for the most part either have religiously dominated governments or demands to make them more religious, which means less toleration of cultural and religious differences.
3. Muslims often lack respect for Western traditions and points of view. The Muslim relationship to the West is colored by the belief that Western beliefs [whether Christian or atheist] are defective and therefore inferior to Islam.
No matter how I tried, I couldn't reach the conclusion that this inclusion promotes Islam or is pro-Sharia. It seems that the mere fact that Islam is included in the curriculum represents supporting it.
And with regard to the concern that the education curriculum Perry promoted is pro-Arab and against Israel, the evidence is exactly the opposite. The lesson on Israel reads:

Criticism flew Rick Perry's way fast and furiously and from all directions. Here, Alana Goodman in Commentary bats a big one down......

You realize you lose all credibility on everything else you post when you say “Rick Perry is to the left of Nancy Pelosi”.
I guess your friends and family aren’t going to tell you that, but it’s true.
In 2005 I certainly knew who ACORN was. I can’t believe that Gov. Perry did not.
“Those truly concerned about Islamic tendencies would be well advised to stay out of the weeds and focus on the real peril, the re-election of the most anti-Israel pro-Muslim president. This nation is in peril. Sometimes the ‘perfect’ must be sacrificed on the alter of the ‘better.’”
Very well, - extremely well, said. I would add to the last sentence, especially when it comes to politicians. I agree entirely, not withstanding the fact I am a very strong supporter of Israel.
I believe Geller is sincere. I don’t mean on just this issue, like I said I haven’t gotten into it. But I’ve read enough by her (I am on the Atlas Shrugs mailing list) to believe she has no hidden agenda. She is straight up pro-USA, pro Israel, pro Jewish, anti-Muslim. If she is opposed to Perry, it is on the basis of those core concerns.
That begs the question of course of who she thinks could win and would be a better choice - something I don’t recall her ever taking a stance on. I don’t recall anything close to an endorsement of any potential or declared canditate.
“And I have an even bigger problem with this primary season because as the only other Republican I can envision beating Obama, Romney may actually have to be under consideration by me. That makes me angry. Very angry.” Well @ least McCain isn’t running. He’s a Maverick.
I read the email exchange between Stein and Geller. Neither knew what was being taught in the schools. They had a spat over whether an anonymous source quoted by Geller existed. I’m a sucker for style; however, Geller’s shrill responses to Stein’s comments causes me to question whether she is a reliable source or an idealogue.
Well I figured it’s about as outrageous as when people say that Rick Pherry is a solid conservative.
LOL! Good pic. I’m not a Perry fan so post away.
“In America's Educational Institution the teacher shall be the top target....if they are convinced about Islam as a way of life they can motivate students to that affect in great numbers....Teachers are therefore the special targets of the Islamic Movement, contact with teachers will always have preference over others”.
Perry was More than willing to allow his teachers to learn Islam and then they in fact to teach the students. This is one of the several targets Islam uses so that it is the people who spread Islam for them.....and it is working now in Texas....successfully.
I would not for a moment think Perry isn't going to do so if he gains the Presidency. His track history of recruiting, supporting and establishing Muslim communities in his state is documented for any who care to look....although of recent Perry people are scrubbing the Internet.
The only comment I’ve made is on your silly tag line. If you truly believe Perry is to the left of Pelosi you are the one far detached from reality and are incapable of distinguishing anything. You must be a soccer mom.
LOL! I see you’ve changed your tag line. Talk about a flip flopper.
You were crying like a little girl and I don’t want to make little girls cry.
LOL! Why thank you.
Love this, what a difference between Rick Perry and Obama!
You can disagree with Perry, that’s fine. But if you look at his total record and say “he’s not conservative”, then you are lying to promote your candidate in a fanatic way. That’s what the word “zealot” refers to, the absolute inability to see the virtues of the other side, when the exist.
If you honestly believe that Perry is not a conservative, then you are a zealot.
