A screaming child who is good at delivering speeches and got elected using the same methods. Ignore it at your peril.
I understand the strategy... but I think it’s fraught with danger. One of the reasons we lost so much in 2008 was that much of the voting public saw the GOP as in control of the hated (13% approval) Congress. This was due to MSM misinformation. They are doing it again.
Even though the outgoing Dem Congress failed to produce a budget and the current Senate sits on every budget and jobs bill sent to them... the GOP is painted as obstructionists. The facts are again the Dems... but that just leaves them shifting the blame... and it is working.
I think the response should be reading Tuesday’s letter in front of the national audience given them by the President’s stage.
The left must be countered at every turn, and ignoring the problem and failing to communicate our views is absolute folly; especially with free airtime.
Well, it isn’t wise is this scenario. You can’t allow the president to go on national TV, before a joint session of Congress and look like a bold leader without countering his views. It’s a perfect opportunity to talk about spending and Obama’s failures.
No one is going to be watching this anyway, with the exception of hard core libs. They’ll all be watching football or doing something else entirely.
Thanks, dad. I’ll be sure to await intellectual enlightenment from you.
Did you make that up or steal it from somebody else? It’s brilliant.
“When your enemy is busy shooting himself in the foot, dont interfere!”
I go with your line of thinking on this one. You know the question will come up in the debate tonight. Let our front runners trump Obama on this one by outlining their “better plans” first.
Good Lord, wouldn't that be icing on the cake? A 15 second spot right after ears:
Voice over..."And now the Republican rebuttal..." < extreme audible laughter > with that "green screen" photo back ground and an empty chair.
Other than his most rabid supporters, the general public is fed up with the Obama stimulus. And here he comes with another stimulus spending program as his new approach. For that reason, the more people that watch the better. Boehner should not only not respond to or rebut the speech but he should be trying to figure ways of attracting viewers to watch Obama dig a deeper hole.
The GOP is doing the right thing here in holding off their response. Obama would end just before kickoff of the big game leaving the GOP there to hold off the start of the game.
In this case, they would be resented and nobody would listen to them anyway.
People will be barely tolerating Obama. Let him be the turd in the punchbowl Thurs evening.
Yep, that’s what I learned in law school. Don’t bother to cross examine a witness who you want to paint as irrelevant, especially when he has said nothing to hurt your case.
>Dadgummit, John! When the people are being lied to, silence isnt golden!!<
Nah. There’ll be plenty of time in the next 12 months to rebut this bastard p-Resident. Just leave him to his lies.
You don’t argue with a special needs child, do you?
To highlight how tired his rehash of failed plans is, it might be funny to just rerun, without any new comments, the official GOP response to his last economic speech.
Let’s see how this psychological play pans out before passing judgment on it. Obama knows he won’t get an official “rise” out of the GOP. It frustrates a bully to be blustering to an official silence.
Tonight, the GOP slate gets to give their own economic platforms and I’m sure that it will be coordinated to make Obama’s look like SOS on toast.
I agree with this particular decision. Why dignify Oblidiot’s continuing idiocy with a response? It isn’t WORTH one.
I kind of like this idea. Implicit in this (non)response is the point that your ideas and bantering aren’t even relevant and to be taken seriously.
