Asner didn't stay too long. He was off to have dinner with former wrestling superstar Verne Gagne.

Gagne has dementia so he will have forgotten Asner about an hour after he sees him. The rest of us aren't so fortunate.

Mary Tyler Moore and Suzanne Pleshette - I had a crush on them both as a young teenage boy, and also Mary Ellen on the Waltons, and the oldest daugher on the Patridge Family ...

been watching it on Netflix...just started with the first season. They included Carl Reiner’s pilot Head of the Family where he play Dick’s role. What a difference. No wonder his version didn’t get picked up.

I have found myself laughing out loud quite a bit while watching the shows.

Actually, the series gets better from season to season. The first-season is the weakest (and it’s none too shabby).

El Dorado is one of my favorite John Wayne movies and that is my favorite Ad Asner role for obvious reasons.

Carl is SO like me...

Ed Asner is one reason I love the movie ‘El Dorado’. It’s always good to see John Wayne shoot him down...over and over again.

"Franklin Delano Roosevelt"

A worthy role for Assner to play.

To this very day, I am convinced that the woman with the blue scarf and brown coat behind and to the right of MTM in that photo is one of my old 4th grade teachers, Mrs. Armstrong.

I remember watching that show every week when I was a kid and seeing her during the opening credits and saying, "That's Mrs. Armstrong!!!" My parents thought I was crazy...

I SWEAR it is her.

The only difference between Asner and a 200lb. sack of horse manure is the sack! What a sad, little man he has been and continues to be.

Mary Tyler Moore didn't do much screen acting. She was adorable in "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and practically stole the show from the great Julie Andrews. I walked out of "Flirting With Disaster", a Ben Stiller vehicle that was irritating and unfunny. But, she was truly great in "Ordinary People", a film with three great performances - hers, Donald Sutherland's and Timothy Hutton's for which he rightfully won an Oscar.

On the other hand, Asner has been doing voices for The Cleveland Show and American Dad, and was Santa Claus in Elf! Hmmm. His performances will probably not get him a Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award. In fact, when he leaves us, he will likely be soon forgotten.

I always liked Mary. She was so normal, compared to other tv actresses.

She was also very good in “Just Between Friends” with Christine Lahti..not the best message, what with the adultery and out of wedlock baby on Lahti’s part, but MTM was wonderful.

What a fun memory to have! And maybe it is Mrs. Armstrong. :-)

Can’t go with you on the Walton girl, but the others - va-va-va-voom! You were a young man with great taste.

By the way, Camille Paglia wrote a book on “The Birds” in which she sings the acting praises of Suzanne Pleshette. A fine actress and a great, smokey beauty. When I was first married my husband always called me Laura Petrie (I was very thin and had very dark, sleek hair). Times have changed, lol!

Carl Reiner was an incredible talent - I have all the discs of the Sid Caesar shows which highlight his comic genuis. And, let’s face it, no one could have played Alan Brady as hilariously as Carl Reiner!!
