American Thinker ^ | Sept 22, 2011 | Brian T. Carter

"Venture Socialism" Perry Style! In Texas, bio-tech firm Convergen LifeSciences looks a lot like Governor Rick Perry's Solyndra. Governor Perry manages the Emerging Technology Fund (ETF), providing financial support to companies developing new technology in the hope of creating high-tech jobs. First created in 2005, ETF is made up of regional panels that screen proposals for a statewide advisory panel (all appointed by Perry). ETF dispersed $342 million through August 2010....Read more to understand the full stench of this Crony Capitalism love story.

Perry looks worse by the hour. Romney has NEVER been conservative. Two progressive RINOs without a difference between them. Neither Romney or Perry are capable of solving the grave issues facing our exceptional nation. The debates tonight will simply expose the emptiness of these two candidates.

“The debates tonight will simply expose the emptiness of these two candidates.”

And here we are with no one who can beat Zero that has entered the race as of today.

Did Convergen file bankruptcy?

Didn’t think so. Nice try at a hit piece though.

Even though the idea that Perry and Romney are even remotely close in their policies and philosophies is absurd, I would still like to ask, who should a conservative support in the primary?

The half term governor who isn’t running, perhaps?

Just the possibility of having to choose between Perry and Romney makes me puke.

Rick Perry is a cross between Joe Isuzu and Elmer Gantry. I don't trust him as far as I could throw Chris Christie.

I just don't understand why folks will promote winning with a very questionable candidate vs. winning with a proven reformer. No one seemed to have a problem understanding what little bammy and the donks did with ObammyCare when THEY had the upper hand with majorities in both Houses and the Presidency.

The donks are so weak now unnamed generic "republican" candidates are besting little bammy. In such a winning environment why would one not want to win with a candidate that has a documented record of addressing the glaring problem... we need to clean house on BOTH sides of the isle which in many instances includes that very same gang of establishment GOP cronies.

Clean house on both side of the isle...

Let's see, who did that?

At least she’s honest. That’s more than you can say for Perry.

I agree and if Newt gets some questions, I think he may get a small boost. Contrary to what some are saying, this vetting is good. Now or later, but it is a given in politics.

He is also exercising States Rights. Yes, how many companies that Texas helped filed for bankruptcy? Or....did they prosper? If done right, I have no problem with this and if the State gets payed back.

That is my suspicion, but I'd like to hear it from the OP for myself.

Big deal. Tell me which state doesn’t have these development funds. By your logic, no former or current Governor in the US would qualify as a candidate for President because of perceived corruption. Baloney.

Even if she never runs for the Presidency, Palin has been an invaluable boon to the conservative intellectual arguments against “death panels” and “crony capitalism” - with the power to shape the debate via a cleverly constructed and easy to understand idiom.

Herman Cain. I don’t think 0 can beat any of the R’s, not even Ron Paul. I think we’re making a mistake by rallying around Hecanwin.

Bankruptcy or Success has NOTHING to do with this issue. It’s about OUR Government picking winners & losers based on campaign contributions. The ultimate outcome of a business after they have been funded with tax payer dollars has ZERO to do with this gross abuse of BIG Government.

Nice try. Really nice try at evasion and ignorance.
