Perry: "I Don't Think You Have a Heart" If You Oppose In-State Tuition for Children of Illegal

Full title: Perry: "I Don't Think You Have a Heart" If You Oppose In-State Tuition for Children of Illegal Immigrants

Perry's response was forceful and personal. "I don't think you have a heart," Perry told his critics.

"If you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they've been brought their through no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart," Perry said. "We need to be educating these children because they will become a drag on our society. I think that's what Texans wanted to do. Out of 181 members of the Texas legislature when this issue came up [there were] only four dissenting votes. This was a state issue. Texas voted on it. And I still support it today."

G’night all. Best of luck Mar, hope you have a change in that big heart of yours.

As far as the Texas Dream Act is concerned, I don't have a problem with it. I do have a problem with the California Dream Act because it gives taxpayer guaranteed loans to students who can't legally pay them back.

Texas just allows all students who graduate from Texas High Schools to get the in-state tuition rate. I got no problem with that. Sorry.

“Illegals are a cancer on this nation. They are robbing us blind and we simply can’t afford it. Put them on an airplane, land it at mexico’s southern border, and let them out. We’re either a nation of laws, or we are not. I’m sickened by the fact that the politicians don’t recognise the damage they are doing to this nation. Apparently laws ownly apply to us suckers who pay the taxes that let them live large on our dime. “

A country’s borders define its boundaries as a sovereign nation, much like our skin defines our boundary as a sovereign individual.

Other people are not allowed to invade our skin without our permission, otherwise they have perpetrated the serious crimes of assault or rape. People may not forcefully insert a tube to collect the food in our stomach when they are hungry, nor drain our blood for a transfusion if they are anemic, nor harvest a kidney because theirs are failing.

Likewise, invasions of our nation.

No, we should reward them by giving them preferential treatment over Americans.

The Texas Dream Act does not give "preferential treatment" to anyone. It simply gives the same treatment to all students who graduate from Texas High Schools.

Are you insane?

Probably. Can you give me a good reason why anchor babies should be treated better than children who are born in Mexico but brought here by their parents when they are a week old?

If you can give me a valid reason then maybe I am insane.

>>Probably. Can you give me a good reason why anchor babies should be treated better than children who are born in Mexico but brought here by their parents when they are a week old?<<

Because, whether I like it or not, anchor babies by law are citizens.

That’s one thing you don’t get and have no respect for. THE LAW.

It’s about THE LAW, not your emotions.

Who in the HELL do you think is paying for these illegals being here, crowding our emergency rooms, using it as their free hospitals, crowding our schools, taking our jobs?

And now we are supposed to REWARD THEM?

What part of “illegal” do you not understand.

I’m not going to waste a lot of time with you, because you are one of the last 2 or 3 remaining flailing idiots who will never “get it.”

They should be paying the same rates to go to college as any other foreigner after they get a visa to be in this country legally.

I believe that the law is equally applied to both legal and illegal aliens. If it discriminates against children of legal aliens, then I would have to disagree with the Texas Dream Act.

If children of foreigners who are here legally are not eligible for the benefits under the dream act, then I will have to change my mind and oppose it.

My understanding, however, is that it gives the in-state tuition to every child that graduates from a Texas High School. If that is the case, then I don't see a problem with it.

But that's just me.

“Why make them pay out of state tuition when they’ve been residents for 4-6-11 years? Why tell them they CAN’T attend college?”

Because they are ILLEGAL residents, that’s why. And LEGAL citizens from other states have to pay FULL tuition. Geez.....

Nope. My arguments are sound and irrefutable.

Because as he said through no fault of their own. Since Fed Law says illegal MUST be educated at taxpayer expense. Just HOW do you plan on stopping them from going to school.

It is really getting disheartening to see the level of absolute ignorance in the Conservatives today.

Never in my life have I seen people so completely unable to logically think an issue through.

Just how do you plan on keeping them out of school. Or is it the fact that the LAW actually says that the student must have applied for citizenship and have lived in the State of Texas for 3 years. Oops, those pesky details. Sorry to confuse everyone.

Hope you all enjoy President Obama for 4 more years.

Bush accused people that I respect of being vigilantes.

McCain acused my countrymen of being too lazy to pick lettuce for $50.

Now Perry says that I have no heart.

You no what Perry no longer has? My support for the nomination. Screw him.

Brilliant post. With a few sentences, you clearly remind us all of how arrogant is the RINO elites.

The RINO elites worship at the alter of State power. They care little for individual Liberty.

If we don't control illegal immigration and soon, our Republic will be finished.

The ad hominem was just icing on the cake.

They don't help your argument. They detract from it.

Your resorting to ad hominem makes your "sound and irrefutable arguments" look like emotional pablum.

What should Texas do to you?

Not give you in-state tuition while legal U.S. citizens of other states have to pay out-of-state full tuition. If they want to go to college, then they have at least to pay full tuition, not get a break when they are illegal in the first place. You think just like the Dems. It’s the same excuse the Dems always use for welfare recipients who have tons of kids, usually by mothers who are unmarried. Why, we can’t not give them welfare, it will hurt their kids, so we must pay them. It’s for the kids you know. So they have even more kids to get even more money out of the gov’t. Works just great. So now you have a magnet for illegal aliens in Texas; come to our state and you’ll get cheap tuition for college. No questions asked. Good grief, think with your head too or we’ll end up a socialist state. We’re almost there anyway.

Glad you made it out. I am stuck retired here in the boon docks of northern Ca. I detest the crap about cheap labor, when I need help on my small farm, I just go to the local high schools 4H club and hire a couple of the local kids who can use some spare money.
I am also getting pretty tired of hearing how completely impossible it would be to deport all of the illegals in my state. This is probably the worst example I could use but here it is.
Between 1938 and 1945 a great deal more than 6 million people were removed from their homelands and transported to centralized locations. For at least 6 million of those people the end result was one of the most horrific crimes against humanity the world has ever experianced. But it does show that mass transport can be done. It can be done humanely and competently and in accordance with the laws of the land.
Eisenhower managed to do it in the 1950s ( Operation Wetback) and the infrastructure was not nearly what we have available today. Call me heartless if they will, but the reason I am still in this lunatic state is because I had to rule out the southwestern states and and my wife ruled out any where to hot and humid in the summer and to cold and icy in the winter.

None of the Perrybots can or will answer that question.

“Why should the children of illegal aliens be allowed to pay LESS tuirion than a legal U.S. Citizen?”

Or as Santorum asked, “Why should they be given preferential treatment for breaking our nation’s laws?”

Well put. There IS nt answer. None of you Perrybots will dare touch this, because you’ve got nothing to say.

Call us “heartless” all you want. Get lost, all of you.

Now you’re tap dancing. Don’t need your lectures. You have NOTHING to say in response to my comments.

Do you think the children of illegals should be allowed to pay less tuition than a legal U.S. citizen from out of state? Yes or no?

Because Perry does. Come on, let’s hear you defend that.

Interesting how the Inside the beltway Romney supporters falsify a quote.
Her is the actual quote:
