Perry: "I Don't Think You Have a Heart" If You Oppose In-State Tuition for Children of Illegal

Full title: Perry: "I Don't Think You Have a Heart" If You Oppose In-State Tuition for Children of Illegal Immigrants

Perry's response was forceful and personal. "I don't think you have a heart," Perry told his critics.

"If you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they've been brought their through no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart," Perry said. "We need to be educating these children because they will become a drag on our society. I think that's what Texans wanted to do. Out of 181 members of the Texas legislature when this issue came up [there were] only four dissenting votes. This was a state issue. Texas voted on it. And I still support it today."

I detest the crap about cheap labor, when I need help on my small farm, I just go to the local high schools 4H club and hire a couple of the local kids who can use some spare money.

- - - - —
Good for you! I come from a farm family and cash rent several quarters still (neither in CA) and I’m happy to hear that someone in CA still helps the 4H kids. Around here almost all the kids start working for the farms at age 14, it is almost a rite of passage.

We had to settle for cold and icy winters to escape but it was still the best thing we ever did. Life is so much nicer when you don’t have gangs shooting at you.

There were also Japanese concentration camps here in the US.

You didn’t comment on the first part of my statement. The Texas Supreme Court is not filled with illegal aliens. It’s filled with Americans who live every day of their lives in Texas with the border problem and they passed this bill with only 4 dissenting votes.

The big giveaway this bill allowed effected about 1% of all Texas students enrolled in colleges and universities. This is facing the facts. Read the numbers and the bill. Rush is right. I’m still voting for Perry.

But DON’T misrepresent, and don’t insult our intelligence. You lose integrity that way.

While El Rushbo is still the best analyst in the business he sometimes also out does himself in that he forgets his role and leave the endorsements to the paid political hacks. He needs to stick with entertaining us and analyzing the current news of the day. I recall how he said he learned his lesson after pimping Bush to get him re-elected to his second term.

He acted like he was used by the Bush camp in his efforts and I agreed that he had been. But he has forgotten that lesson it would seem. Seems even Rush can't be counted on to keep from being suckered and used by the RINO camp once again. Come on Rush, don't be a sap once again. I thought you were smarter than that.

Rush has NOT commented on Perry’s hideous performance last night. I can’t wait.

I was saying that your comment about what Rush said was correct. Rush is not on today, it’s Mark Stein.

One of my hobbies is genealogy and I learned not to take what I heard about any ancestor as truth until I found as many sources as possible to back up what I heard. I want to see for myself what the real truth is. Everyone should do this.

If they are illegal themselves, how are they graduating from Texas High Schools? I had to provide so much information just to enroll my daughter in Kindergarten in NY— you’d think Texas would be tougher.

- - - -
It’s easy. Most schools (at least in CA) don’t require much paperwork. Also, they look the other way with cases of identity theft.

In California (San Diego Area) buses go ACROSS THE BORDER to pick up kids in Mexico and bus them to be educated here in the US. They aren’t even illegals (they live in Mexico) and they are getting free US education.

I'm Perry. I think Illegals should get In State tuition...

As long as Perry and any other of the elites want to pay for it out of there own pocket. But not a dime should come out of the taxpayer's money. NOT ONE SINGLE DIME!

I agree MamaB. I had a very distorted view of this bill until I started doing my own digging. No I still don’t like the bill in it’s entirety but it is most definitely not the monster I was led to believe.

You assume several things. First that I have an ‘axe to grind’ - no axe I just believe in speaking the truth about them - something they fail to do.

Second, that I hate Romney because he is LDS. No. I hate him because of his liberal policies. However, I don’t TRUST him because he is LDS. Been there done that.

Character matters. You glossed over the other half of my tagline “Now Christian”. I won’t vote for Romney because he has no character, he is not honest. I apply that standard to ALL candidates.

You try escaping a cult that controls your every move and behavior, then lies to you about their history teachings and doctrine. You wouldn’t just let them go their merry way - you would warn others about the group - which is what I do.

The citizens of the U.S. are not responsible for the mistakes of the parents who brought children here illegally. They have a country of origin and that is where they are citizens. These children can take their hard work and education they received here (illegally) and go back to their native country and apply themselves there and help their fellow countrymen. They are being selfish by remaining in this country illegally and not helping their unfortunate fellow citizens in their native land.
The U.S. is under extreme social and economic stress and we are doing the best we can.

And he hasn’t been zotted yet?! Wow, color me surprised.

Thanks for the support, Norm.

And yes, I would oppose Romney no matter what his religion, even if he claimed to be Evangelical.

However, since I know more about his religion than most, I have perhaps a bit more insight over why he does what he does and says what he says.

I was liking parts of what Perry was saying-—but I cannot support this.
Those ‘anchor babies’ are a complete twisting of the meaning of the amendment that they are getting a free pass under.

The costs of going to college are hard enough for those of us who are true citizens. Giving more handouts to illegals only sets up a larger carrot for them.

Palin needs to get into this race so I have someone to vote for.

These children can take their hard work and education they received here (illegally) and go back to their native country and apply themselves there and help their fellow countrymen.

That rarely happens with any foreigner....they like the good life here and they have little if any interest in re-building Mexico. Had this been so Mexico would not be the trash heap it is today.

So it's pure lazyness and no interest in building up their country, especially when so many think that Mexico has a right to the southern states and their's to begin with.

So you are saying the path to legal citizenship that has been in place since before Ellis Island is Amnesty...got it.

No, that path is followed by people that are not in this country yet. They lived in another county and applied for citizenship, and then when all the paper work and everything is done they got to come to the USA.

This new path to citizenship that some candidates talk about pertains to illegals that are already here and haven't even filled out any of the paper work yet.

am·nes·ty
noun, plural -ties, verb, -tied, -ty·ing. noun
1. a general pardon for offenses, especially political offenses, against a government, often granted before any trial or conviction.
2. Law . an act of forgiveness for past offenses, especially to a class of persons as a whole.
3. a forgetting or overlooking of any past offense. verb (used with object)
4. to grant amnesty to; pardon.

If they are allowed to stay without any repercussions, fines, etc, then it will be AMNESTY.
