Chris Christie Reconsidering 2012 Run, Will Decide in Days
Newsmax via Drudge ^

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is reconsidering his decision not to enter the 2012 presidential race — and he says he will let top Republican donors know within days about his plans, Newsmax has learned. During the past few weeks, several leading Republican donors and fundraisers have been urging the popular Republican governor to reconsider his decision not to run and to enter the GOP primary. These Christie supporters note that significant GOP support has remained on the sidelines of the primary fight. Many leading fundraisers have yet to commit to any current primary contender, including frontrunners Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. Newsmax has learned that the effort to draft Christie culminated in a hush-hush powwow held in the past week with Christie and several notable Republican billionaires.

How right you are Astronaut. If you aren’t “pure” here on FreeRepublic, then you are outcast. Reagan would be thrown to the wolves.

Ironic as hell.

I’d take Christie in a heartbeat. He’s not 100% conservative, but he’s whacked enough unions to make me like him. Perry is an idiot and proved that in spades last night. Romney is polished but the Mormon thing is going to kill him with some voters.

Why are you trying to be logical? It won't work. Let emotions drive your brain, not the other way around.

he would do himself a favor to stay in NJ

You could be right. Even putting issues aside, will somebody from New Jersey have a snowballs chance of getting the vote from the south? From the midwest?

Never too late for the gov from Alaska. She can declare at the republican convention and still have a good chance to get the nomination. However in practical terms, it is too late after Iowa, NH & SC primaries are history.

"Taft didn't have to worry about TV" is correct. But I have a hunch that nominating Christie, with about 65% of our population obese if not morbidly, might put the fat in the fire. If blacks went 98% for the 0, then wouldn't paunchy whites do the same for Chris?

It would also be bumpersticker heaven: "No More Lightweights or Vote Christie - He's One of Us or Christie 2012 (down from 2025 in just 2 weeks.)

Don’t bother, Christie. You’re good a slashing spending, but all of your other postions are liberal with a capital L. You’ll never have my vote.

If its is too late for PALIN, then it would be too late for Christy too wouldn’t it?

No no no! You don't understand how it works! You see, he is a Krispy Cream-munching, loud-mouthed, obnoxious, fat slob of a New Jersey RINO, whereas Sarah is a slender, ultra-fit, happy, accomplished leader with guts and determination. You see the difference don't you?

I think you are probably right.

If Rick Perry were a Congressman his ACU rating would likely be around a 95. We have people on here acting like he is Obama's clone though.

Some of the most uninformed have even made the claim he is to the left of Obama.

I have no doubt Christie will be slimed too. I guess some are just dying for a Mitt Romney candidacy since he is the primary beneficiary of all the conservative bickering and slandering that has been going on over the past several weeks.

What can you do? They are convinced they are somehow advancing the conservative cause and seem oblivious to the fact that they are making it more and more likely a moderate or a liberal will be our next POTUS.
