Perrys comment was in response to the badgering he was taking fron Mitt Romney and Chris Wallace, the dont have a heart comment was addressed to them. I watched the debate, I never thought he was talking about me or other conservatives. He was visibly annoyed by the two smarmy weasels Wallace and Romney. Perry can explain it the way he has today and that's fine. It's not an apology, nor should it be. He regrets the word choice, but defends the policy. So be it.

I wasn’t offended by it. The problem as I saw it was that it’s a liberal thing to base your decisions on emotions instead of using your mind.
oh those poor illegals. Let’s give them money. It’s so unfair that the rich aren’t taxed enough. Hollywood is for Obama so I should vote for him, too. Dihydrogen monoxide sounds scary. Let’s ban it!

No matter what he says, there is a certain element here that could care less about the true immigration issue. They have only one issue on their mind, or there own agenda.
When it comes down to it, the majority of people will not be voting on the immigration issue.

Poor Perry.
It is not the WORD, ... it is the RINO thinking.
Again, like Gardasil, he ALMOST has it figured out.
Almost.
Then too, it was about the RINO thinking and not
him “being ahead of the polls”.
If Perry ever can stop thinking like a RINO,
he might have a chance.

He can apologize all day, but he cannot take it back. He dug his own hole Thursday night. No one else did it for him! him. He was extremely combative to Romney, which made me think less of him than I already did. In fact, he actually made Romney look great! Perry is not Presidential calibre! (And neither is Romney.)
The man with the plan, who is miles more qualified than any other candidate is none other than Herman Cain. His bio is posted here today. Wow! Don’t miss it!

I probably chose a poor word to explain that to people who dont want their state to be giving tuition to illegal aliens, illegal immigrants in this country, Rick Perry told Newsmax.I guess what he meant to say was, "I believe in compassionate conservatism".

Apology aside...I can conclude he just made a stupid mistake which he did not admit to (chose wrong word).
OR
He is not capable of say what he means and/or he is not capable of meaning what he says.

I probably chose a poor word to explain that to people who dont want their state to be giving tuition to illegal aliens, illegal immigrants in this country, Rick Perry told Newsmax.TV in an interview in a response to question about his comment during the debate that those who opposed tuition breaks for illegal immigrants lacked a heart.Perry said what he intended to say. He's a "Republican" with Democrat roots and he believes that it's ok to educate illegals (criminals) with OPM (other people's money). Many of the positions he has taken in the state reflect his Democrat roots, just like his chief rival, Romney.

He so reminds me of Bush. What a disaster that guy was. He and his minions called us all racists over disagreeing with his open-border policies. It’s happening all over again, and we are supposed to take it?

Less than a week later, Perry is backpedaling and apologizingIt took him SIX freaking days to come up with this weak BS?
Obviously, he still doesn't get why that was a campaign-killing comment. He was done the minute it came out of his mouth, though it may take all the professional political geniuses around him a few weeks to realize it.
To: smoothsailing
I was hoping he'd apologize for that. Glad to hear that he did. That was a definite misstep, but at least he's big enough to acknowledge that and issue a mea culpa, unlike the current occupant of the White House.
