Another Ronald Reagan

Another Ronald Reagan?

Was Ronald Reagan truly unique? How exceptional was it that a small select group of men came along at just the right moment in time to become the Founding Fathers of what would prove to be the most extraordinary nation in the history of the world? Between the federal, state and local governments, there are thousands of elected public officials. Can you identify the ones that you believe have the characteristics or attributes of another Ronald Reagan or the Founding Fathers? Can you identify even one that you believe to be equivalent to Ronald Reagan or the Founders?

"We have the best Congress money can buy," Mark Twain. Twain died before Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt made it possible for politicians to take matters into their own hands. Closer to the truth, but still not an accurate depiction of American politics since 1932, President Reagan once quipped, "Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I've come to realize there is a very close resemblance to the first. In contrast to the concept of politicians selling themselves to the demands of voters, the truth is that modern politicians dictate the terms under which they buy their voters' allegiances.

A working definition of a "professional" politician is one who is more interested in securing their own lifetime career in office through repeated re-election than in fulfilling the duties of their elected office. And because they are more interested in their own re-election, they are willing to subvert the Constitution in order to use the public treasury to buy blocks of votes from the public. In effect, "professional" politicians have converted our "republic" into a democracy by surrogates. The Founders envisioned statesmen winning elections based on principles. In contrast, unhampered by term limits, "professional" politicians began using socialism as the mechanism for the creation of blocks or categories of voters. The income tax greatly expanded government's ability to tax. The creation of the Federal Reserve made almost unlimited borrowing and spending possible. With the almost unlimited taxing and borrowing power of the US treasury at their disposal, "professional" politicians then repeatedly and competitively bid for, and purchased the blocks of votes which they had created with socialism.

If the Divine Hand of Providence is still watching over or guiding the path of the United States, surely there must be another Ronald Reagan or perhaps even a number of men like him in a country with a population of nearly 300 million. The first US Census (1790) taken under the supervision of Thomas Jefferson showed a population of only 3.9 million; among them were men like Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, Madison, the signers of the Declaration and the countless patriots who fought in the American Revolution. The men and women serving in the military, not only today, but also in every past generation are a testament to the fact that patriots exactly like those that fought the Revolutionary War are and have been present in our population in substantial numbers in every generation of Americans. Where are the political leaders like Ronald Reagan and the Founders? What deters them from stepping forward and seeking public office?

Ronald Reagan's two landslide elections and the 1994 Congressional elections confirm that statesmen of a caliber similar to Ronald Reagan or the Founders can defeat "professional" politicians whose re-elections are dependent upon socialism. Could the Constitution be restored and our republic be saved or resurrected if men like Ronald Reagan and the Founders could be recruited to come forward and seek election?

In the articles that follow, you are going to learn what is almost certainly the best, if not the only, way to recruit and elect statesmen made from the same mold as Ronald Reagan. In spite of past history or any beliefs to the contrary, there truly is a simple way to both recruit, and elect patriots cut from the same cloth as the Founding Fathers.

There will NEVER be another “Ronald Reagan”, because that RR, as we remember him, never really existed.

******************

Excellent post. RR was a GREAT president. But he did do things that weren’t always the best, or conservative. And if he had been around now with the internet - we would be digging up all the “dirt” on him like we do with all of the details of today’s candidates. Every missspoken word, every law or decision that wasn’t 100% in line with what we believe, etc.

FWIW to a man the Founding Fathers, (the authors of the Constitution) were compromisers. The Constitution is a textbook example of how great things can be achieved if men of good faith are principled to a point but willing to compromise in order to achieve a better good.

The principle that got compromised in the Constitution was slavery. The "better good" of which you cavalierly speak kept hundreds of thousands of people in slavery (untold millions over the time frame) for 3/4 of a century. I bet not a single slave, man, woman, or child thought the Founders made a compromise for the better good. I would venture that not one of the almost million who died during the Civil War or the millions of their survivors thought the Founders made a valid compromise for the "better good".

Ronald Reagan was a consummate compromiser. He worked with a congress that despised him (on both sides of the aisle), gave them enough of a bone to keep them pacified and in the end achieved great things for this country.

It may have escaped your attention, but the United States is on the verge of bankruptcy. If it weren't for the Unconstitutional compromise of the Federal Reserve, the US would have been in actual default on its obligations, actually, instead of just arguably, bankrupt along time ago because of the consummate compromises made between Reagan and the Democrats. You just haven't recognized the toll that has already been taken and what is going to happen that hasn't yet unfolded. Ronald Reagan bought us some time, but it was at a huge cost and we are arguably far worse off now than we might have been if he had stood his ground and the people had gotten behind him. We will never know or be able to calculate the results.

If one is certain of what is right and what is wrong, compromising what you know to be right is always taking a step in the wrong direction. If one is uncertain about what is right and what is not, compromise is a solid hedge of your bet in hopes that you don't go to far in the wrong direction and end up going over a cliff.

Compromise is one of those touchy-feely ideas that sounds good and people are easily persuaded to participate, but history and the facts tell us that compromising principles that we know to be true ends in tragedy of epic proportions and is obvious folly.

Let me say that I’m humbled by the responses so far.

Possibly Marco Rubio, Herman Cain, George Allen, and Rick Santorum. The 2006 election removed the last two as frontrunners. Rubio would probably admit himself that he should finish his first Senate term before running.

Another Ronald Reagan would be difficult to find, but I do see a VERY CLOSE likeness in Herman Cain. The rest of the present candidates are no where close.

Some of my friends are talking about Newt again. The Newt who used to work with President Reagan, use to refer to President Reagan so often, and then stated over and over that the “Reagan Era” is gone and we should move on. I believe what Newt meant was we should forget the REAL CONSERVATIVE values of our Founders, and move on to being moderately conservative. That is what Newt is today. A moderate conservative, with only Herman Cain standing out as the closest to a REAL CONSERVATIVE.

Needless to say, Herman Cain has my full support!

I have not seen much of Cain, but from what I have seen there is a lot to like.

That said, I have seen more of Palin, and I like her a lot.

That said, everybody who is focusing on the Presidential race alone is missing the boat. Presidents don't make the law; they can only approve or deny something that has been put forward by Congress. The problems America faces today have been created by Congress and once they have become law, only Congress can undo what it has already done.

People need to start realizing that we must change the Congress if we are going to change the law, and in turn truly change America. We the people need 535 Ronald Reagans sitting in the halls of Congress. You don't see them running for President, and you certainly don't see them running for the Senate or the House because one Ronald Reagan sitting with 99 or 434 socialists is not going to make much of a difference. And one sitting in the Whitehouse with 535 at the other end of Pennsylvania Ave is limited as to how effective they can be, just as Reagan's effectiveness was limited.

Stay tuned and bring your friends; We are going to lay out the blue prints that will allow replacing both ends of Pennsylvania Ave in less than a decade.

Thanks.

And the members of our small group who developed this series would like to invite anybody viewing these threads to share them with the people on their ping lists. Grass roots efforts are not going to get much play on network TV. The impact on talk radio of grass roots efforts is likely to be limited or qualified in some way. If internet users do not take advantage of leveraging the internet potential to the max, grass roots efforts are going to be potentially doomed to the dismal record of third parties of the past.

Our next two articles are going to point out why those who hope for great things from the Republican Party or even a reformed Republican Party are likely to be disappointed. And those who are familiar with third party histories in America should already recognize that several prominent seemingly hopeful third party efforts ended in electoral tragedies. There are few Presidents to whom history has accorded more accolades than Teddy Roosevelt. Yet, Teddy's third party foray gave us Woodrow Wilson, the Federal Reserve, the income tax, and transformed our Republic into something much closer to a democracy through the XVIIth Amendment. Many predict historians will date the fall of the United States to that 1912 election.
