A media copter?? Keeping track of the dAMN PROTESTERS?
To: Perdogg
Prayers.
And I wonder if the pilot was able to avoid people and property and land in the river ala Sully Sullenberger?

That’s not the only thing that’s going to be crashing, per Fox headlines!

"...I wonder if the pilot was able to avoid people and property and land in the river ala Sully Sullenberger?" Being a helicopter that crashed, I think we can expect that it came down ala Whirlysplash Explodocopter.
To: Perdogg
There are a lot of sightseeing helicopters too. Two years ago a copter and small plane collided over the river (no survivors). Hoping the pilot had some control as the craft when down....

True. Helicopters do not crash land gracefully.

If this were not in NYC, D.C. or LA the story would be but a tiny footnote in the back section.

as a heli pilot, I’m curious how and why...? we probably won’t know for a while.
Anyone that knows, please chime in.

According to the live feed from some other helicopter, the one that crashed was a Bell 206. One of the Ranger line. Didn’t say which one.
Since it’s a passenger service, maybe a Long Ranger?

“Aim for the water”. Creepy audio from that crash.

I have a Blade 450 RC helicopter. It is the hardest thing I’ve ever done to learn to fly. So far, I can hover, tail in. I have the utmost respect for real heli pilots. Stay safe my friend!

I still remember the helplessness I felt listening to the audio of this one.
