The doctor who is suspected of helping the CIA target Osama bin Laden will be charged with treason, Pakistan's information ministry said Thursday.
"A case of conspiracy against the state of Pakistan and high treason is made" against Dr. Shakeel Afridi, the information ministry said, summarizing a commission's investigation into the death of the al Qaeda leader.
Afridi is accused of helping the CIA use a vaccination campaign to try to collect DNA samples from people who lived in bin Laden's compound.
The United States "has repeatedly asked" for the release of the Pakistani doctor, a U.S. official said Thursday. The official declined to comment further on the treason charges.

Yet another facepalm on my desk as I recall what an idiot Bush was with Musharraff, and what a huge opportunity we missed in not grabbing their nukes and putting 20,000 troops in W. Pakistan.
Obviously, Bin Laden must have secretly been considered a national treasure or national asset by the Pakistani government. Yet, we continue to pay them off.

Of course. Bin Laden was their national hero. They must have been laughing their a$$es off at getting billions in US aid and weapons while stabbing us in the back. Both Obama and Bush would just sweep it all under the rug.

The real stupid part is that US Taxpayers are sending Billions of dollars each year to Pakistan as a gift.

The CIA probably made the mistake of assuming Pakistan was an ally in the WOT and probably make the Doctor a national hero for finding Bin Laden.
If that you said is true the CIA is pathetically stupid. Personally I think someone at the top wanted him dead and the CIA was following orders.
