When people in Israel are pondering whether to embark on a hasty and unnecessary war against Iran, they should study well the unfortunate case of 1973 from two perspectives - the domestic and the American.

Other posters are right. Why should Iran attack Israel, any more that they attacked Iraq or Afghanistan?
They just supply the weapons and stir the pot and let the other idiots get killed doing the attacking. But just as in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Iranians are in the war, they are just letting others do the fighting.
Give notice to Obama so he can call Iran and make sure they’re ready.
Whatever Israel needs to do to protect herself, she should and MUST do.
As for getting America’s permission, screw that. Obama may be the self-styled king of America, but his rule doesn’t extend to Israel.

The Iranians let others act as their cat’s paw because they if they openly attack America again like they did in 1979, they know they would get a massive shipment of whipass since there is no longer a Soviet Union around to restrain the U.S. these days.
They may be contemptuous of us, but they are are also scared witless of current U.S. military capabilities. They are like little kids taunting a muscular giant because they believe that he is restrained from striking back by social and legal considerations. They just know better than to do something like sink a U.S. ship or openly attack an American airliner.
Maybe Israel should shut Haaretz down for treason.
