Rev. Al Sharpton and a professor recently debated the blackness of GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cainz. Sharpton tore into Cain, saying how could anyone in their right mind that grew up in the South and saw what they saw, sat up there and act like everybody that is unemployed and not rich did it to themselves. Start with your Mama, Sharpton said. Tough words coming from an ultra-liberal, but he is absolutely right.
You see, Herman Cain, grew up in the South at the height of the civil rights movement, so its quite obvious he knew exactly how blacks were denigrated and overtly discriminated against. He knew how economically repressed the black community was at that time. Kathryn Stockettsz book and movie, The Help, speaks to that dark period in our history in this country.
Cain also attended Morehouse College, where he excelled as a student, but more importantly, he attended a predominantly black school and he later married a black woman.
So, this begs the question of what happened? How could he be so cold towards the poor and the unemployed? He said he could get the majority of the black vote if he went up against President Obama in the general election.
Really? Um, when donkeys fly, particularly since he seems to loathe the poor and unemployed in this country. Sharpton is right, Herman Cain will not appeal to the African American community holding such views and positions on the issues concerning poverty and race.

I question sharpton’s “Rev.” title.
Barf alert is right.
“He said he could get the majority of the black vote if he went up against President Obama in the general election”
I happened to hear Cain do that interview and he NEVER said he could get a MAJORITY of blacks to vote for him. Either shan never heard him say that or it LIES! What a surprise!
How anyone could take Al seriously is beyond belief.
I believe I might have heard him say that he could get a significant minority of the black vote ( something like 30%).
The writer is a LIAR, PURE and SIMPLE.
I applaud Cain for his refusal to allow blacks to play the “victim” role into eternity.
Who put Sharpton in charge of determing who is “black enough”?
Isn’t that Rev. Jessie Jackass’s job?
I guess “black” must mean ignorant, irresponsible, unsuccessful and dependent.
We knew they would. It’s sad Sharpton and others can’t respect another black man as an individual who can make his own decisions and form his own opinions. Of course, if there were more black men like Herman Cain, Sharpton would be out of a job.
Cain is an unabashed truth teller (and it is the truth that liberates)...and Sharpton is a liar and an enabler.
I, for one, am loving this!
More importantly, a “black” politician, in order to be “authentic” must have “it’s not your fault” as his main campaign theme.
If Cain ends up going up against Obama is the left going to say, “We’ve got the cleaner one”?
I wish I could say this to her face: “Janet, you ignorant slut!”
How dare Cain rise beyond his circumstances, and not allow those circumstances to constitute an excuse of why he failed! How cruel of him to expect a high level achievement from the poor with similar background, and probably better circumstances. Why would anyone wish that on the poor!
Answer: "Cain also attended Morehouse College, where he excelled as a student,..."
The question shouldn't be "what happened to Cain?" but instead "why didn't it happen for Al Sharpton, too?" -- who certainly raised himself up from poverty, but then chose a life and attitude that still pushes people down instead of celebrating successes like Herman Cain.
0bama’s the African
Cain’s the American
Cain also attended Morehouse College, where he excelled as a student, but more importantly, he attended a predominantly black school and he later married a black woman.
OMG, he married a BLACK woman! How rude and unenlightened!
What, you’ve never heard of Kinko’s Seminary School?
