President Obama has deployed combat troops to central Africa to aid in the fight against the Lord's Resistance Army. In a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner, Obama says 12 troops with "appropriate combat equipment" were deployed on October 12 and approximately 100 in total will be deployed including a second combat team and headquarters, communications and logistics personnel. The forces will provide information and advise and assist "select partner nation forces," Obama explains. The troops will not fight except in self-defense. The full letter is after the jump.

Call me cynical, but there are lots and lots of bad actors that need killin’ on the ‘dark continent’. First and foremost: Muslim terrorists defined by their BEHAVIOR! (God, I feel dirty - as if I am an Obama apologist)! Release the hounds. Seals, Rangers, Special Forces, Recon, etc. (not forgetting the USAF CCT’s and PR’s. Warmonger? Nope! Pragmatic.

“There have been no LRA attacks in northern Uganda since August 2006.”

“In FY 2010, U.S. development assistance to Uganda totaled approximately $526 million.”

“In FY 2010, the United States provided approximately $285 million for HIV/AIDS.”

The Lord’s Resistance Army are Christians who are fighting against the Muslims and corrupt regimes. They number about 500. Obama is sending troops to eradicate them according to this story.

This is sad and tragic beyond what Obama has already done.

This proves beyond any shadow of a doubt obama is anti Christina and anti semeitc in now the Ivory Coast, Tunesia, of course Afghanistan and Iraq, Libya, Egypt, nothing to do with slaughters and shar'aia law in Sudan, Nigera( and slaughters of Christians) plus ignorning Iranian pleas for help while Obama watched them die, never lifted a finger except demanding Israel stop "settlement building" and return to 1967 borders.

What he's planned or planning in Uganda sounds like serious orders against what he calls post Judeo-Christan natiion and has ushered in a pro-muslim dichotomy as evidenced by muslim Brotherhood in every alphabet soup company and the WH. That's enough. This Uganda thing is tragic after his Kinetic HumanitarianWAR in which allegedly 30,000 Libyan's were killed or murdered. What more proof do we need he is NOT a president by and for THE PEOPLE but a dictator that need not explain anythig beyond his own arrogant ideologies? he has made us a nation seriously divided in which as is well known Washington especially the WH and selected Czars are carrying out their own agendas despite what we the people want, desire and voted upon!

Analogy or not Hank Williams is right he is an evil little shi'ite!

Just had to check out DU to see their reaction to this. I expected them to be praising this but for the most part they aren’t. They are claiming it’s an imperialistic ploy by the US to steal Ugandas natural resources. But they aren’t blaming obama. They are blaming the generals in the Pentagon. I guess we`ve had a military coup and the Pentagon has taken over the country.

Having spent yrs. in Africa, many of these comments are correct. There is a CIVIL WAR in the DRC. A UN Agency called MONUC took on the responsibility for the vacuum of leadership by the Belgians. Yes along with the standard fair of Diamonds and such, the region has a high concentration of coltans which the industrialized world needs. The mining/exploration for such is owned by YES the Chinese. There is another region high in coltans in the US but we as a people don’t care. The UN has been trying to hand off the MONUC mission to any takers. There are none. Now the US enters the picture and we are going to kill, slaughter etc in humanities name. I call BS. This has nothing to do with the plight of these poor people. Solve a problem go to Darfur. How does this president get a pass once again on our constitution?

Note: If this is duplicated it's because after posting Microsoft Windows crashed. This happened after the last download of Microsoft XP on Wednesday, since that time no program can find a bug however it's getting weird every time I surf the web or post something odd like this happens

This president could have his fingerprints on something (beyond) volatile, and come out unscathed, were the media to drive the point home to the average (Walter Conkrite listening) audience... due to legal barriers- I cannot convey my heart felt sentiments to a public audience. (Yes, I’m angry)!

I am not disputing your point. In fact, it makes sense to go after a guy like that. Is 100 troops enough?

My point is that we constantly send too few guys to get the job completely done.

If we arent going to do it well....then lets keep our guys at home.

Apparently our entire government is on record as wanting to disarm this group. From wiki

“In May 2009, U.S. President Obama signed into law the Lord’s Resistance Army Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act,[48] legislation aimed at stopping Joseph Kony and the LRA. The bill passed unanimously in the Senate on March 11, 2010 with 65 Senators as cosponsors, then passed unanimously in the House of Representatives on May 13, 2010 with 202 Representatives as cosponsors. On November 24, President Obama delivered the strategy to disarm Joseph Kony and the LRA”

Okay thanks, I know nothing of this,”The Lords Army,” from Uganda. I still think our military would be better suited along Iranian( already are in Iraq) borders and Syrian borders, maybe Nigeria vs the nasty boys there or help Sudan but Africa is a mess and most folks know so much Sunni backed terror is going on it’s just a bloody nightmare literally. Now I must read up on the Lord’s Army in Uganda. Then again, it would be nice to see our military back home and helping secure our borders instead of spread all over the ME. What a danged mess.

This seems to be a thinly disguised kill mission (IMHO).

I have to admit that I am concerned for the lives of the forces we send. The U.S. trained Guatemalan UN peacekeepers did not do well in 2006 against the LRA.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2009/05/15/hard-target.html

It would be a serious mistake to think that 100 US troops will be able to fully protect themselves in this conflict.

“This is a place we should stay completely away from, hands down it is a no win proposition.”

Which is exactly who 0bama is starting a U.S. ground war there. He knows he’s going to lose the election, so this new ground war of his is nothing more than a setup for the next President to have to deal with.
