Middle class families who have a mortgage and itemize deductions already pay about 10% income tax on their gross income.

Why would they want to pay 9% sales tax on top?

Because the 9% sales tax would replace the SS and Medicare taxes.

That means all the drug dealers and welfare cheats have to pay into the system whenever they buy their cars, large screen TVs, iPods, iPads, laptops and digital SLR cameras

And that's 9 percent on TOP of whatever state and local sales taxes are paid. In some states that could amount to a 20 percent or higher tax burden.

And the whole idea of inserting a federal tax and its coercive enforcement mechanisms into the sale of every package of tea sold in this country ought to have the Tea Party faithful recoiling in horror. But it's not. They love it! "It's 9-9-9! Give me some MORE government with my tea. I Cain't get enough!"

Idiots.

You forgot to add in the 7.5% they pay in payroll taxes. That brings them to about 17.5%. Then you can also factor in the benefits of the other taxes that will be eliminated.

I'm fairly middle class, and I've run the numbers for myself. It is pretty much tax neutral for me.

I've also been talking to some business owners (small businesses) just to understand this better. They will benefit from this plan better than the average joe. This will allow them to become more competitive in their markets (ie. lowering the prices on their products), which will in turn make their products more enticing to the average American consumer.

This along with some aggressive changes in our foreign trade policies, in my opinion can only have a positive effect on our economy.

Unfortunately, the last to benefit will be the poor. They will have no relief until the economy turns around.

Um, have you studied Cain’s plan at his website?

I think H-CAIN needs to work on that plan of his, but at least he has one on the table in the works before everyone’s eyes before he defeats the WhiteHouse Occupier who has no plan except that which was based on the Jonathan Gruber/Mittens Romney blueprint and campaign mirroring (except with less zeroes behind the pricetag and bureaucracy) the monstrous and disastrous Obamacare economy/liberty destroying scheme.

With far less resources staff and political experience H-CAIN is advancing and leading the way. He has the heart and credibility. of course slick establishment candy-date mittens looks and is strong with his connections and previous work running for president but he is still behind H-CAIN in more substantial ways. Lets not let the status quo which produced the era of mediocrity corruption and manipulation that has fallen upon our land determine who we elect again!

First of all even now on most big ticket items you can get the seller to ‘eat’ the sales tax. Second if you have reduced the home builder’s tax burden from 30% to 9% it would be a lot easier to get them to do that. Lastly the plan isn’t written in ‘stone’ yet. Like any plan it will need tweaking.

So tell us of those running who has the best plan in your opinion and tell us why it’s the best plan.

1. They will want to vote for candidates who promise not to raise it.
2. Because some taxes embedded in the price of goods will be reduced, the after tax cost of goods will likely be lower.
