Herman Cains limited funding and campaign organization will make it difficult for him to survive dozens of state primaries and win the Republican nomination. However, his prominent standing in current polls is real and indicative of strengths he brings to the chase.
Our latest IBOPE Zogby interactive poll has Cain leading the GOP field at 38%. Polls continue to be volatile because Republican voters are hard to please, and none of the candidates has yet to meet their standards for pure conservatism and ability to beat Barack Obama.
Four different Republicans have led our polls since late last year: non-candidate Chris Christy, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry and Cain (but not once has Mitt Romney led). Polls taken months before the first primaries are not predictive of who will win the nomination, but I feel very confident that our polling is accurately measuring current GOP voter preferences. More than 90 percent of our online panel consists of likely voters, and we know that those who identify as likely Republican primary voters are very motivated. These are the people who vote in lower turnout primaries and help candidates win. (A short note on process: we draw a random sample from a pool of potential respondents who get an invitation to take part in a survey. Only they can take the survey and they never know what the subject matter will be until they initiate the poll.)
Right now, Cain has several levels of appeal to Republican primary voters. First, he has never held public office, which is a good thing to Tea Party voters who strongly distrust government and most politicians. Note how Romney has tried to say he isnt really a politician. No one winces when Cain says the same thing. He managed 400 Burger King stores and is credited with

Something is up with his website. I just went there to upgrade my donation to a monthly. The site loads up just fine except for the donation page. I click the button to donate and I get nothing.
Can someone really be trying to sabotage Cain’s fund raising ability? Now who would benefit most from that?
I’m going back to the site and see if I can alert them to the situation.
For all the good it will do him.
It works now. I just went back and was able to donate.
Go back to America's blueprint (the Constitution) and free the American economy. We don't need new ideas. We need to believe in the old ones. Until we believe that, Cain won't solve it, Congress won't solve it, Bernanke certainly won't solve it. Newt or Romney or Perry won't solve it - anyone who admires their own genius and "compassion" too much will not solve it. Freedom and the free enterprise of a great and independent nation will solve it.
This is a stupid discussion.
Campaign money is reported every quarter.
The reports everybody is talking about cover Q3, which ended September 30.
Cain’s rise in the polls did not start until after the Flordia Straw Poll, which took place 6 days before the end of Q3.
So, the money is not reflecting Cain’s popularity or organization. The money reflects Romney’s organization and Perry’s popularity/organization (remember, he was leading in the polls for almost half of Q3).
Cain has not run a single TV spot to my knowledge and he is pulling away from Mittens. Where is the “he can’t run multiple primaries” problem? Does zombie think nobody will know who Cain is because Mittens ran more spots?
38%, that means hay career politicians, the voters have tuned you out.
He may be lacking funds but he is on TV all the time getting interviewed for free and people are learning who he is and liking what they see. If you have a message, you are positive, energetic, and being a non-politician this election cycle will win people over. Running hundredes of stupid commercials and paying people to do robo calls is not that important.
...unless an enormous groundswell of popular support DEMANDS his nomination and election. Expect it.
"Difficult" is not "impossible", and a man who has prevailed over poverty, racial discrimination, cancer, the corporate world, and many other difficulties is an expert at prevailing over the difficult.
Furthermore a man who has prevailed over all that and come away armed with wisdom and truth--
--and unencumbered by fear, anger, resentment, victimhood, mendacity, the desire for revenge, and all the petty evils that the Left embodies--
--and radiating happiness and optimism and love of his fellow people, proclaiming love for his country, proclaiming respect for the truths and institutions that made it possible for him to prevail, and showing everyone else just how they can prevail also--
--is a man of truly heroic stature--exactly what America and the rest of the world need!
Do not underestimate Herman Cain.
He is a man of greatness and truly heroic stature.
>> And later he backpedaled on TARP
I’m curious. How come when Cain flip-flops, it’s called “backpedaling” and it’s OK.
But when any other candidate disavows a formerly held position it’s called “flip-flopping” and it’s worse than the original sin.
I detect a bit of intellectual dishonesty here.
“What about support for open homosexuals in his administration in 12?”
What about the rest of the statement? Cain was saying that he was more concerned about hiring people who respected the laws of our land and would never appoint anyone who honored Sharia law.
It’s called CONTEXT.
The Log Cabin Republicans hate Cain. If Cain were so ‘pro-gay’ he’d have their support.

>>Its called CONTEXT.
So in your/Cain’s up-side-down Rainbow world — The Abomination of Nature is now acceptable because it also happens to be a violation of Sharia Law. Uhuh.
FAIL
Screw Scott Toomie and the 999 cent Fithcally Conthervative Jackwagon full of Log Cabin interior decorators he rode in on.
His own words - from his own mouth - heard by my own ears:
If I don’t support In-State-Tutition for ILLEGALS I am HEARTLESS.
He can never squeeze that toothpaste back into the tube!
Individuals can assess for themselves what Scott Toomey...

...is and how Cain’s Flippy Floppy “Conthervatism” measures up in THAT context.
Given that FACT - it’s perfectly reasonable to question who/what else is riding in Herman’s boxcar-closet,

Senior Political Adviser to Herman CainHerman has been on a whirlwind tour of the country for Tax Day, participating in more Tea Party rallies than any other potential presidential candidate.
Yay, a Cain Train ping list!!
Reduce Government Spending
It is no secret that federal government spending is out of control. They view the American taxpayers as a bottomless piggybank for their wasteful programs and expansion of power. And we the people will not tolerate it any longer.
The massive debt caused by liberal policies will be passed onto our children and grandchildren if we do not stop it. They will be stuck with the tab for the government takeover of health care, industry bailouts and failed stimulus packages. They will be the ones approached with outstretched palms by the Chinese to pay back the billions upon billions we owe them. Each generation of Americans should seek to leave behind a better and more prosperous nation for the next, not saddle them with debt from reckless spending.
Though it might not be politically popular to modernize and eliminate some of our entitlement programs, responsible leaders should be willing to do it all the same. They must be prepared to make tough choices and learn to simply say no. This can only happen when our elected officials stop being politicians and start being leaders. Simply put: there is no Department of Happy in Washington, D.C.
Nothing should be off the table. Every federal agency, every government program and expenditure must be reviewed and revised with a keen eye and a red pen. Leaders should be willing to shrink budgets by target percentages, and those charged with implementing those changes must be held accountable.
And it works! I have served as an executive of several major corporations. When times were tough and money was tight, I asked our employees to cut back drastically, and explained why it was necessary, and they did. We have all had to make difficult decisions in our own household or at our work place. Serious but responsible belt tightening can save businesses, and it can also save our country with the right leadership.
