The peace is shattered in an airplane by a five-year-old boy who picks the moment after the plane has taken off to throw a wild temper tantrum. No matter what his frustrated, embarrassed mother does to try to calm him down, the boy continues to scream furiously and kick the seats around him.

Suddenly, from the rear of the plane, a man in a Marine uniform is seen slowly walking forward up the aisle. Stopping the flustered mother with an upraised hand, the courtly, soft-spoken Marine leans down and, motioning toward his chest, whispers something into the boy's ear.

Instantly, the boy calms down, gently takes his mother's hand, and quietly fastens his seat belt. All the other passengers burst into spontaneous applause.

As the Marine slowly makes his way back to his seat, one of the cabin attendants touches his sleeve. "Excuse me, sir," she asks quietly, "but could I ask you what magic words you used on that little boy?"

The Marine smiles serenely and gently confides, "I showed him my pilot's wings, service stars, and battle ribbons, and explained that they entitle me to throw one passenger out the plane door on any flight I choose."

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cloves
4 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 pinch cardamom (optional)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 cups pumpkin
1 1/4 cups vegetable oil
8 ounces cream cheese
chopped pumpkin seeds (optional) or walnuts (optional) or pecans (optional)

Directions:

1 Preheat oven to 350.
2 Put the entire brick of cream cheese on a piece of wax paper or parchment paper and shape it into a long log.
3 Put it in the freezer while you mix and fill the pans, up to an hour.
4 Unwrap and cut with a sharp knife so each cream cheese disk equals 1-2 teaspoons. If the cream cheese disks are too big around, cut thick slices and then cut them in half. This lets you push it down into the batter easier.
5 Mix all ingredients together (except cream cheese and nuts).
6 Fill muffin tins (greased or paper cups) half full.
7 Put cream cheese disc in the middle, pressing down.
8 Sprinkle with 1 tsp chopped nuts.
9 Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean from the muffin part (do not touch the cream cheese!).
10 Let cool in pans for 5 minutes, then remove to racks to cool completely. Do not touch the cream cheese until it cools.
Makes 24 muffins

Evenin’ connie. *hugs*

None. I did get a letter from the state reemployment bureau that in it's wording presupposes that I'm stupid and know not how write a resume or do job searches. It clearly was written by an SEIU apparatchik that knows nothing of this region or what is going on with the contacts on post that drive all employment.

Further, it sets a date and time that I must report in person to receive, "guidance and assistance", or forfeit my unemployment benefits.

TOP TEN INDICATORS THAT YOUR EMPLOYER HAS CHANGED
TO OBAMA'S HEALTH CARE PLAN:

(10) Your annual mammogram is done at Hooters.

(9) Directions to your doctor's office include
“Take a left when you enter the trailer park.”

(8) The tongue depressors taste faintly of Fudgesicles.

(7) The only parasitologist in the plan is “Gus” from Roto-Rooter.

(6) The only item listed under Preventative Care Coverage is
“an apple a day.”

(5) Your primary care physician is wearing the pants you
gave to Goodwill last month.

(4) “The patient is responsible for 200% of out-of-network charges,”
is not a typographical error.

(3) The only expense covered 100% is “embalming.”

(2) Your Prozac comes in different colors
with little M's on them.
(I could live with THAT! LOL!)

AND THE NUMBER ONE SIGN YOU'VE JOINED OBAMA'S HEALTH CARE PLAN:

(1) You ask for Viagra, and they give you a Popsicle stick and duct tape

Bada-bing!!!
