The color photograph below is one of the Army PR pics currently running on the Army Knowledge Online website. Two of our female soldiers who are part of a cultural "Engagement Team" are shown standing with Afghan police women.
The photograph is heartbreaking when contrasted to the black and white photographs showing Afghan females in the 1960s. The location is not in the far flung areas but is "near" the capital according to AKO.
Some might suspect this helps protect the women's identity and thus protects them from assasination. But such extreme danger is also a sign that things are not going well. Their identity could be protected another way. AKO apparently sees no problem with the photograph's content.
Man!
burkhas make my blood boil.
In the ‘60s the West still believed in itself. Multi-culturalism had not won out.
Now we are too open to “tolerating” Mohammedan intolerence toward women, Christians, and Jews.
The fact that generals did not resign over the Bible policy and the prohibition of U.S. soldiers sharing their faith says a lot about the sorry state of our star wearers.
If US industry were allowed to develop energy sources, there would be no worldwide jihad. It really is that simple.
I don’t hear NOW complaining, nor any of the regular complainers who say the US is not good on Civil rights.
The mideast (SW asia in this case) is definitely regressing.
Pakistan once had a female president but she “passed away” a few years ago.
So now you know why “Army Knowledge” is an oxymoron...with extra sauce (and cheese) on the “moron”!
According to Ambrose, happy days are just around the corner:
World Power Swings Back To America
The American phoenix is slowly rising again. Within five years or so, the US will be well on its way to self-sufficiency in fuel and energy. Manufacturing will have closed the labour gap with China in a clutch of key industries. The current account might even be in surplus
I guess Rush Limbaugh is right when he talks about what modern feminism is really about...making unattractive women feel vindicated. The NOW gals sure gave Obama a pass for his insulting Cairo remarks about women being no less equal because they choose to cover their head.
Hey B.O. it ain't their choice and it ain't no simple head covering!
However, Afghanistan is viewed as the just and right war while Iraq was turned into the Bush and Republican war where some sort of vile ulterior motives were trumped up to belittle the cause. Even though the Democrats voted for it and supported this effort right up until they saw a political expedient benefit in going against it in 2004 during the presidential elections, the ignorant masses sort of just bought the line that the Democrats were against the war or had been “deceived,” the official rationalization for the 180 degree turn.
Afghanistan has no strategic value to us and is beyond our nations will in time and money to salvage. In the meantime, Iraq has strategic value (oil, missile defense, forward staging area with infrastructure dealing with other threats, on the Gulf, more significant even when dealing with radical and extremist groups) and is well within our means.
It is Iraq that is more secular, more educated, has more world traveled citizens, pre existing infrastructure, something that can sustain an economy, had a government bureaucracy that can run a country, and is less tribal. Afghanistan? A pile of rocks.
Anything past O-6 becomes entirely political.
Examples: Wesley Clarke, Shinseki...
Do you think that Shinseki who was in the Democrat camp and fell into Rumsfeld’s and Bush's back during the Iraq war just coincidentally became the head of the Veterans Administration as soon as Obama was elected?
Yep..well said!
But, but, you don’t understand!
Not only was the Shah of Iran trying to bring Iran into the 20th century, he was—oh, it is to recoil in horror—a friend of the United States.
He had to go. Surely you can see that. And if that means that Iranian women have to go back to the 8th century, why, then, that’s just the price you have to pay for regress.
Obama has had more pass’s than a mountain range.
Our strength is because of our soldiers, NCO’s and company/field grade officers, not because of those duds (with a few exceptions) we have in the general grades.
MOST have no strategic vision, poor management skills, are operating one level above their experience and true abilities, aren't around long enough at that level to really matter or bring something to finish... It's a joke-
Yup, that’s progress.
Only the Muslims are so effed up that they consider going backwards culturally as progress.
“So now you know why Army Knowledge is an oxymoron...with extra sauce (and cheese) on the moron!”
Yeah that’s like the air force pretending to be a real branch of the military.
