Cain's Success Comes Down to His Sincerity
NewsMax ^ | 28 Oct 2011 | Mahsa Saeidi-Azcue

Herman Cain, the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO, Baptist minister, and Atlanta radio host, continued to gain momentum this week in the Republican primary race.

National polls from Fox News and CBS/New York Times show that Cain is leading Mitt Romney 24 to 20 percent, and 25 to 21 percent, respectively. And according to a new CNN/Time poll, Cain is runner-up to Romney in the first four primary states.

Yet despite Cain’s epic surge and steady support, political pundits, media elites, and even Sarah Palin have all definitively declared that Cain is not a serious contender, and that his 15 minutes of fame will soon be over. Many are quick to dismiss him as a national joke, a fluke, or the latest quirky tea party candidate.

But Cain’s critics underestimate how far authenticity — a lost trait in today’s politicians — will take a candidate in 2012. Now more than ever, politics is theater and there’s no shortage of performances, put-ons, and puffery on Capitol Hill.

Cain stands apart from the rest. He not only has executive-level business expertise and bold ideas to jump-start the economy, but he is genuine. Voters are won over by Cain’s straight talk and sincerity.

And speaking of sincerity, Conservatives have long thought President Barack Obama lacks this quality. Lately many on the left have reached the same conclusion. In 2008, Obama was firmly opposed to the Iraq war. He captured the anti-war vote and was elected as the peace president.

Fast forward three years and Obama is fighting wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, and Uganda. He has not only expanded wars — putting 33,000 additional troops in Afghanistan — but he’s also waged a non-war war in Libya without ever bothering to get congressional approval.

What "real" job has the current de facto president ever done? Community organizing? Low-level college instructor? He was NEVER a professor as his supporters like to claim. Any of the current or former GOP candidates are head-and-shoulders above him, even the 1%ers.

President Lincoln had ONE term in the US House and experience as a backwoods frontier lawyer. He’s pretty much the gold standard, along with Washington and Jefferson, to most historians.

Thank you for your reasoned, thoughtful, and relevant response to my post of a whimsical snail soliciting donations to Free Republic, preferably monthly.

Your post made perfect sense, or it would to a dyslexic maniac. Again, can't thank you enough for the non sequitur post of the day,

He has the Cain Doctrine which is “Peace through Strength with Clarity”

You clarify who your friends are, clarify who your enemies are and YOU STOP GIVING MONEY TO YOUR ENEMIES!”.
Then, you let the enemies know that if they attack your friends it will be considered an attack on the United States!

Please name ONE person elected to the presidency who hadn’t already held a high elective, appointed or military office. Hint: There are none. Will 2012 be the first? Who knows?

Why should I have to? By your self-imposed standard, "past is prologue" which means that America will remain stuck in the same bloody rut for the rest of her days. I submit that you need to be thinking 'outside the box', as they say.

Now here's a question for you:

Please name ONE person who has generated the kind of excitement as a candidate that Herman Cain has, who is NOT part of the entrenched political class, and has actually proven they have the stones to get into the race and hopefully help begin the process of saving this Nation?

The difference between Cain and the other candidates, and indeed between Cain and other politicos generally, is that Herman Cain has spent his working life being accountable for his performance. Always being accountable hones intelligence and builds character.

The lawyers, promoters, and grifters who constitute the US political class aim for those positions which allow them to be unaccountable to anyone. Their intelligence degenerates to mere cunning; as to character...you must be kidding!

They mostly deserve to be in jail, not in office; no wonder at all that Cain has seized the imagination of those who believe in the American ethic.

I am surprised this article states that Sarah Palin mocked Herman Cain, but fails to cite any instances of this. I’ve been following Sarah and Herman both very carefully, and I have never seen this. Shame on Newsmax for printing undocumented allegations of this divisive nature. If indeed, Sarah had mocked Herman (even at the very beginning of his campaign) don’t you think it would have been ALL OVER FR, being reported by supporters and foes alike? (For The Record, I love BOTH of them! :-))

Feel free to cite instances if you know of any. I’m a big girl and can handle it! LOL

Sarah’s gonna be one of Herman’s strongest supporters

Is she waiting for Romney to win a couple of primaries before she declares that?

When did Sarah say that Cain was not a serious contender?

You are absolutely right and this is hogwash. Sarah Palin has never once dissed Herman Cain as she HAS others who shall remain nameless.

I knew that assertion in the article above didn't sound like something Sarah would say.

Thanks for the links.

Upon further review, the sentiment attributed to Palin is totally false, and I must assume that the author did not check the facts carefully, or else they are engaging in willful propaganda.

Exactly! I have a home health patient in his early 80’s, intelligent, well-educated and a self-proclaimed moderate/progressive. The other day he asked me what I thought about Mr. Cain. I answered as vaguely as possible because politics are not to be discussed on the job. Then he said something I was amazed to hear. He said that he could vote for Mr. Cain. Said that he was “smart, a businessman and not a politician. We’ve got too many of them in office as it is”.
