Senator Grassley et al. is hearing Lanny Breuer et al. now about organized crime, "Fast and Furious" and "Wide Receiver" at the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime & Terrorism.

The Bush era ATF project had nothing to do with Fast and Furious and should not be an issue as it is being used as a smoke screen by Holder et al to blame Bush.
The hearing just adjourned, so you can discontinue the breaking status.

Mr. Breuer, in the Monday interview, addressed the operations in detail for the first time. “I thought this was an isolated matter from ’06-07,” Mr. Breuer said. “I wish I had alerted the deputy and the attorney general. I didn’t recognize there was this other case out there that had probably, not identical, but comparable problems.”

“I did not draw a connection between the unacceptable tactics used by the ATF years earlier in Operation Wide Receiver and the allegations made about Operation Fast and Furious, and therefore did not, at that time, alert others within department leadership of any similarities between the two. That was a mistake, and I regret not having done so,” said Breuer.
When Breuer, who was confirmed to his post by the Senate in 2009, found out about the gun-walking used in the “Wide Receiver” operation in 2006-2007, he brought the tactics to the attention of ATF , which had been responsible for the operation.
However, Breuer said he took no further action to ensure that the department had completely halted “gun-walking,” a practice where guns are allowed to flow to criminals without constant supervision from law enforcement and which he called “misguided” and “unacceptable.”
“At the time, he had no reason to believe that it was still going on, so why would he?” a Justice Department official who spoke on condition of anonymity told POLITICO.
It has something to do with "Wide Receiver." Under Bush, once they realized that their "Gun Walking" tactics were unable to prevent guns from crossing the border into Mexico, they stopped! The questions are why did they repeat such a losing tactic and method, and who gave the OK? They won't say that they wanted to placate the gun grabbing organizations for campaign donations, and that they wanted to infringe on the Second Amendment for its own sake, IMHO. So, I'll take who gave the OK to repeat a failed tactic and method?

Sounds like Breuer has been selected as the one to fall on his sword to protect Holder.
Actually, it sounds like he's pushing it back down the chain. He "brought it to the attention" of the lower agencies, and claims he assumed they did, so he's saying it's their fault if they didn't stop.
Everyone in Justice is shoving it back hard.
It is hilarious to sit back and watch all these overpaid, overstuffed bureaucrats scrambling like mad to protect their precious Eric.
Justice will never be done in this fiasco. No one of weight will be punished. Assuming there is any punishment at all.

We'll see. Issa said this was felony stupid to Holder's face in May, IIRC. With Operation Castaway in Florida, and similar operations in Texas and Indiana, which in the case of Indiana allowed straw purchases for Chicago and Detroit, IIRC. I think Holder will get impeached, IMHO.
There's no scandal in US history bigger than this. Except for those rats in safe Senate seats, there are up to 16 rats who will have to explain to their voters why they didn't vote to remove Holder next year if Holder doesn't resign. If this isn't a high crime or misdemeanor, what is?
