Cain Accuser's Lawyer Said Case "Leaked to Politico by a Board Member of Natl Restaurant Assoc"
CNN ^ | 11-01-2011 | Montag813

Posted on 11/01/2011 5:42:13 PM PDT by montag813

The lawyer for one of the Cain accusers, Joel P. Bennett, just told the panel on Anderson Cooper's CNN show that it was "his understanding" that the allegation was "leaked to Politico from a Board member of the National Restaurant Association".

Could it have been the former President of the NRA who took over after Cain left, who is a Romney supporter?

Re watch the FNS coverage from tonight’s broadcast. Herman was on, they put up their heavy hitters and he still came out smelling good.

Fox is hopelessly empirically Establishment Connected, eff the RNC and the elites.

I like Herman much better than the other losers, at least he appears to be a real dude

Before you fine folks get all twisted up, one way or the other, I strongly suggest you find and either read, if it is available on CNN, or...view the questions asked and the answers given, from the Cain accuser’s lawyer. IMHO, he is not well versed on the agreement, cannot recall what really happened and could barely utter any meaningful content during his responses to simple law questions. I do hope that someone in the Cain camp witnessed and heard this interview. Whatever is coming does not appeared to be fine tuned. I would suggest the Cain legal folks get a rap sheet on this attorney. IMHO, he is far from the sharpest knife in the drawer. Should be intersting!!! GO HERMAN!!!

Fascinating. Note this common thread continues with Sweeney's predecessor at the National Restaurant Association, Steven C. Anderson, who like Sweeney also attended George Washington University (The Legislative Affairs Program for Graduate Study).

And now the interesting part, courtesy of *gasp* Politico:

"Before establishing himself at the vanguard of GOP outside group politics, Carl Forti, traveled a rather conventional path through the ranks of the professional Republican class. He started out in the mid-1990s doing digital editing for a small ad firm run by Paul Wilson, a veteran GOP consultant who hired Forti after coming to speak to his political strategy class at George Washington University."

A graduate of George Washington University's Political Communication program, Carl Forti was Romney’s 2008 political director. And is now doing the same thing with Karl Rove’s American Crossroads.

Two consecutive CEOs of the National Restaurant Association, both alumni of George Washington University, along with Romney's 2008 Political Director...hmmm...

Is he keeping this alive for some reason? I wonder, because this whole smear has caused an upbeat in his fund raising.

This whole thing is getting a little weird.

*****

LOL. Maybe Cain smeared himself.

Oh please. Romney’s not hurt by this at all. The people supporting him are liberal leaning or believe he’s most electable. The only time Romney bled his base was when Perry led intially because he was believed electable then.

The same 25% are going to stick with Romney. Dirty tricks by his campaign are nothing new and they are okay with it. And it’s not like Cain is above capitalizing on dirty tricks himself to boost his own campaign.

The only way this would hurt Romeny is if the rest of the 75% united around Cain defensively in reaction to the story but that in part you’d think would only happen if there was no truth to the allegations.

"The first woman was identified to POLITICO by a former association board member, and her identity was confirmed by two additional sources. The former board member recalled learning of the woman’s departure at a 1999 association board meeting and trade expo in Chicago."

This is pre-Sweeney. This is when Anderson was named CEO to replace Cain.

Why would the NRA want to stop a pro-gun republican in favor of a anti-gun RINO?

Ignorant post of the day alert!!!

NRA = National Rifle Association

or

National RESTAURANT Association

Read before posting, you lower the collective IQ of this website with posts like that.

It seems we have some literately challenged folks posting on this thread. Can we have an edit in the body of the thread that says NRA in this instance means National Restaurant Association and not National Rifle Association?

Some people are too lazy to read and rather jump to assumptions...

I'd rather not see politico propaganda here. They in conjunction with FNC are in cahoots to smear Cain. Every pro FReeper comment was deleted. I posted atleast 5 none made it on their thread, since they want to belittle this website.

I'm all for either Boycott Politco, or Occupy Politco, either way I'd ban their articles, since they are on a full assault mission against JR and Free Republic.

BTW many other FReepers were censored on the Fox News forum. So I guess atleast we got some free advertising via Karl Rove's smear machine!

The best response, as someone has said, would be to say ...I don’t really care.

Come on — that’s what the libs did w/ Clinton. They just carried right on and stayed united behind their guy.

This country is in a huge mess. Europe is about to collapse. I for ONE refuse to get caught up in some silly tit for tat over whether Herman offended some LOSER at the NRA 20 years ago. It’s IRRELEVANT to my own personal life which hangs in the balance right NOW.

Get this GD economy FIXED. That’s all I want. I don’t care WHAT these guys do in their bedrooms, in the boardroom, or elsewhere. Just LEAD.

Well at least he’s not trying to bury it like a career politician would. It’s refreshing to find someone willing to take this kind of dirty politics head on.

It could still be the Dems. Maybe they planned to take out Cain and Romney at the same time. Take out Cain with a sexual harassment charge and leak that it was Romney. Two for the price of one.

Bingo-I think you have hit the jackpot. That’s exactly what I think is going down.

I don't think it was Perry, because someone went after him with the “Nxxx” rock. But it is interesting that the attorney is saying it was someone on the NRA board. My vote is for Obama’s people, and next most likely is Romney's people.

Guys, the man who replaced Cain at the NRA was Steven C. Anderson Who is a major Romney supporter. The only people with access to those files are the Victims, and the NRA. Politico said in their first article that they did not talk to the victims.

This sounds like Axelrod to me. He got sealed divorce records leaked in Brack’s senate race to take out his serious challenger.

Former President of National Restaurant Association has Ties to the Mitt Romney Campaign

Former President of National Restaurant Association has Ties to the Mitt Romney Campaign 0diggsdiggBased on a suggestion from a local blogger to look into political donors on the Board of Directors of the National Restaurant Association for potential ties to presidential campaigns, I have attempted to identify anyone privy to inside information about the National Restaurant Association who also has recent ties to any presidential campaign.

According to the October 2011 FEC report for ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT INC. a gentlemen named Steven C. Anderson gave $1,000.00 on July 14, 2011. FEC search function here.

Steven C. Anderson is the same gentlemen who took over the helm as Chief Executive Officer at the National Restaurant Association (after a brief intermission) upon Herman Cain's departure in 1999. As CEO it is highly likely he would have been privy to details of litigation and threats about litigation from the immediately previous tenure of Herman Cain.

There is little more than a coincidence between the support for Mitt Romney and the likelihood that Mr. Anderson knows the background of the sexual harassment threats. Nonetheless, watchers of this scandal endlessly pontificate about whether President Obama or a rival campaign is the driving force behind the bombshell story that appeared in the Politico on Sunday.

Reporters should follow-up with Mr. Anderson to discern his knowledge. At the least he likely knows the short list of people with inside knowledge about the sexual harassment allegations.

~23:15 11/1/11 UPDATE: Apparently as this post has taken on a life of its own I need to clarify a few things.

1. This truly is the exact same Steven C. Anderson at the same address that gave donations while at the National Restaurant Association in the early 2000’s.

2. I have purposefully not listed his address, and made it slightly difficult to find. There is an error in the FEC database that leads to a mistaken link for those who dig deeper. Rest assured he made the donation.

3. He may not be the source. If he is not, then he likely knows the short list of people who could have been the source.

Lastly, do not forget to follow @ppradoslaw on Twitter as I broadcast to thousands of conservatives libertarians, and a handful of patient moderates, democrats, and progressives.
