Then Cain himself lied when he told a reporter that he and his staff knew about these accusations for over a week.

Cain has said the same thing.

“As you said some of the allegations are hearsay, as is Cain’s accusation against Perry.”

Technically, I guess. I go by the character of the man, so I certainly believe him. I suspect what really tipped off Cain was the lack of specific details in the Political report. What probably happened is that Cain told this Perry clown (when he worked for Cain) the same stuff, practically verbatim...then...he sees it in the Politico. That’s why Cain was so sure.

Cain may have no idea! What the NRA gave the woman is confidential. It has nothing to do with Cain!

Who cares where it came from? There is no chance this would have remained a secret anyway. Way too many people knew about it and that means that Hussein’s opposition research folks know. It was going to come out one way or the other and it is better sooner than later. What matters is how Cain deals with it and so far he’s bungled the response. Herman’s team had like 2 weeks to prepare for this story and it doesn’t look like they even gave it a second thought. Neither Cain or his campaign people appear ready for the big leagues.

...75% of the American public heartless because they believe in enforcing our laws.

Actually, he said you have no heart if you are part of the segment of the American public who are against giving residents of TEXAS who were brought into TEXAS by their parents, whether such residents parents are here illegally or not, in-state resident tuition rates.

Exactly I agree. In the 90’s no witness was needed it was so new and PC the woman got anything with no proof.I also clearly remember Lawrence ODonnell hammering Cain endlessly and losing.

>> “Mark Levin just said that the “accuser’s” lawyer now says neither he nor she “can’t find” any settlement papers!” <<

.
Rush covered the same thing.

The woman lost the case. Had she gotten a settlement, the lawyer would not have totally purged the case.

Where is the actual proof that this bit about Cain was initiated in any way by any one connected with the Perry campaign? It is difficult to see where there is any real basis for such accusations and making them makes the Cain campaign look bad. Anyone connected with the National Restaurant Association knew about these matters and some connected with it were predicting weeks ago that these allegations about Cain would come out. Accusing the Perry campaign without basis is not a wise way to respond to the allegations now that they have surfaced, which was inevitable given the widespread knowledge that something had happened among dozens of people connected with the National Restaurant Association.

Cain has a settlement on harassment on record. This is fact.

C'mon SS. I know you're brighter than this.

The 'settlement' that was made doesn't imply that there was any actual 'harrassment,' and you know it.

There was a claim of 'harrassment.' That's it. The 'settlement' doesn't imply guilt.

Although that is what some would like us conservatives to believe. Most of us know better.

I’m interested from the legal perspective on the basis of the penalties. It can only be the plaintiff or defendant providing the original leak and one party would have to pay.

Oh Romney’s probably high fiving his team right now but his time will come. He’s hit his ceiling.

You mean they’re not experienced liars like Perry’s team.

That’s another point in their favor for me.

So the way to deal with accusations that have a weak factual basis is to make accusations against a rival that themselves have even less factual foundation.

These political consultants all float around from candidate to candidate and easily change their allegiance for a paycheck. Could have been any of them that leaked this. Maybe it didn’t come from one of them. This sort of smear is more typical of the way the Democrats operate. I can see somebody in the Obama camp or an operative like Soros leaking it. But you know what? I want to know if Cain did any of these things. If he did whoever leaked it did us a favor and I won’t much care who blew the whistle. If the allegations are unfounded whoever unfairly smeared him should roast and I will be taking names. I’m not jumping to any conclusions yet.

It really is a mess, but all is not lost. We still have Newt, and maybe even Bachmann if she does well in Iowa.

Thanks. I remember that.

IIRC, the deputy was the one who made the "no comment" comment.
