Cain defamation lawyer hired to monitor accusations (It's Go Time!)
reuters ^ | 11/10/2011 | Tabassum Zakaria

Herman Cain, who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, has hired a high-profile defamation lawyer to keep an eye on the sexual harassment accusations made public by two women this week.

Atlanta attorney Lin Wood told Reuters Thursday he was not hired to scare, intimidate or threaten anyone from making statements, but to monitor the accusations against Cain and respond accordingly.

Wood, a top libel and defamation lawyer, was hired on Monday morning when it became clear that Sharon Bialek was about to become the first of four women alleging inappropriate behavior by Cain to go public with her accusations.

"I would certainly at some point and time give him my legal evaluation of whether any of these particular statements are potentially actionable," Wood said. "But I was not hired to run out and file a lawsuit against anybody."

The two public accusers -- Bialek and Karen Kraushaar -- are planning to hold a joint news conference, but it has not been scheduled. They have accused Cain of inappropriate behavior in the late 1990s when he was head of the National Restaurant Association.

Cain’s lawyering up. I guess he suspects something big is about to blow.

Only the Dems' (and/or Rove's and/or Perry's) cover, troll-boy.

BTW, I don't hear much about Palin's supposed love life lately.

Almost as though the only purpose were to discourage her from running.

In real life, it sure would be nice to see a lot of "Hit Him Again, Todd!" moments.

Cheers!

" Seems like the Buy-A-Lick stories have dried up and the Kraushaar stories are all pissy because there will be no presser with Kraushaar, the 2 imaginary accusers and broke ass Bialek. "

Perhaps they were all made up, and now they know they will be put under oath in a real court of law.

How about the one that the press referred to as number five...turns out she was pissed because Cain left her with a $800 wine tab...

And now she finally comes out and say she was not harassed

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/nov/9/fifth-cain-woman-says-shes-not-accuser/

Or what about the radio talk show host in Iowa
who said that Cain was harassing an employee because he
asked to have his tea doctored.

So we have gone from 5 to 4 to 3 and now down to 2.

Kraushaar, after whining all over the place, will not come forward on her own and only Bialek will.

There is nothing stopping these two from doing their presser absolutely nothing.

If one does not agree with Cain’s positions then say so, if one does not like Cain because he is Black, then say so. But do not go around and make attacks on his character.

He hasn’t been taking it. Like Clinton, he has skipped any serious investigation with the claim of sealed records, but has been out there making inflammatory remarks about his accusers and basically setting himself up for a serious fall.

I think he’s lying, simply because he didn’t even admit the first cases (the employment settlements) until confronted with proof, and then he said he didn’t recall, and then he said, yes, they happened, but it wasn’t his fault and he didn’t know any of the details, and nobody had ever brought it up since 1998 or 99, when they happened. All this for something he had discussed in 2004 with his campaign manager in his failed Senate run.

And he has been making the entire GOP look like jerks. We can’t discuss issues because we want to know what “Hermy” (as I have seen some fans call him) was doing during his mid-life crisis in DC. Frankly, I don’t care, although the fact that his wife has not made one single statement of support may indicate that she knows better than we do.

But we have got to move beyond Cain and get to the issues. If he cared about the GOP, he could step out of the race for a week or so and deal with his personal problems while everybody else gets on with defeating Obama. And then if he has a good answer, he could come back, because his faithful would be here waiting for him.

I'm also hearing the accusers are backing out of their joint press conference.

Money and intimidation works, what else is new?

This was my suggestion on FR immediately, when this mud started flying at our Conservative Frontrunner, Herman Cain.

That he and his campaign sorely needed a crack rapid response team, in a basement somewhere, with all the kinds of media monitoring tools needed, 24/7, to monitor any kind of eruption and shut it down immediately. I did not mention the need for a crack lawyer, but that also is prudent. They are going to think twice about trying to pull this crap on good ol Herman in the future. Take that to the bank.

She never said she was harassed. She was supposed to set up a “date” for Cain with an attractive woman in the audience, ala Bill Clinton, who used to send State Troopers out to invite attractive campaign workers or even employees of the facilities to visit him at his hotel.

She was uncomfortable and wouldn’t do it, so he invited her to dinner but she wouldn’t go unless she could invite friends, which she did. Cain ordered two $400 bottles of wine at the dinner, and then left the women with the tab. I guess he was a little annoyed. Sounds just like Our Boy Bill.

I agree. This is but a shadow of what is to come.

Panic has set in the Elites, and they are running in circles right now. Once they are able to collect themselves a bit, and as it becomes more certain Cain is going to be the conservtives presidential candidate, real and organized vitriol is going to come out.

This is one of Cain's wisest moves.

Do you write for politico because your comments are flat out wrong just as politicos.

If you do not like Cain’s positions than say so. If you do not like Cain because he is Black than say so. Then make your case as to why he should not be supported.

I do not want to see any of the candidates attacked as Cain is being attacked. It is wrong and can destroy a person for life and it is pure evil.

Wrong turn, this is not a GOP lemming site.

We like Cain and the GOP better get used to that!

Sarah started it and we're not going to be lemmings any more.

Going on offense now. Libs heads EXPLODING from coast to coast.

Their character assassination-attempt failed, the media bullets whizzed right by without hitting the target. Bastards. Now I say: Let's make them pay, that's indeed what I say. They should be taught a very deep, painful and long lasting lesson, to refrain from this behavior in the future towards Conservatives and Patriots.

Do not let them cavalierly think for a moment they can never get away with it in the future, certainly for the remainder of the 2012 campaign. And this goes for Karl Rove or any RINO camp that would do this internally in the GOP race for that matter as sell.

This mudslinging and smearing and innuendo and vague charge thingy is exactly the ONLY WAY OBAMA can be re-elected in an American economy that is going to be sucking hind teat one year from today as well, outside of starting a Middle East war, is to mudsling. If we take that option away from them, they are going to start freaking. They might even push a political coup d'etat within their own ranks and replace Obongo with Clinton, it could get that bad for them!

Cain ain’t going anywhere!! get used to that. he is not in it for the GOP and their elite backers. he is running to make a difference. Remember? Make a difference? The biggest fear the GOP has is losing the reigns of power not winning the next election or preserving conservative principles. HC is an existential threat to the establishment elite. PERIOD. Whose side are you on??
