Nebraska 17, Penn State 14; Crowd Chants "We love JoePa."
The New York Times ^ | November 12th, 2011

A last-ditch drive ends in disappointment for Penn State, which loses to Nebraska, 17-14. Not having any timeouts crippled the offense, which completed two passes short of a first down, including one with seconds left, but couldn't stop the clock.

This is a different Saturday in State College. Immediately after McGloin's final pass fell incomplete, the Penn State crowd cheered the team's effort: the cheering grew to a roar as the two teams again met a midfield, such as they did right before the game.

Again, as occurred several times during the game, there were chants of "We love JoePa." Interviewed after the game, interim coach Tom Bradley said that what Penn State has gone through over the last week is "unprecedented in the history of college sports."

Yes...Amen to that. I am never “hurting” for music, entertainment, or art, even though I set high standards.

This whole episode really highlights the insanity out there involving college football.

These people need to get their priorities in order.

Paterno could have handled this situation any way he wanted right down to immediately calling the state police in to investigate. No one would have second guessed him. Instead he chose to kick the can upstairs and never follow up on it.

Penn State, class of ‘65 alum. I agree. In the old days wounds were cauterized by fire. Seems apt to me. Though I would include State College police, PA State Police and the PA attorney General in the funeral pyre.

I’m so ashamed of my Alma Mater. My heart goes out to all the vulnerable kids who were abused.

Moody’s Investors Service said it may downgrade the credit ratings of Pennsylvania State University

On what basis? The moral credit of Penn State may be shot but no one is questioning its financial credit, certainly not if it has the State of Pennsylvania to back it up.

Lawsuits. Multiple ones. With payouts in the multi-million $ range. I’d short their bonds yesterday.

Nobody wants to focus on the fact that he is a homosexual child rapist. They want to say this is a case of child abuse in general terms, without giving us details.

The same thing was done with the Catholic Church scandal. Though the majority of cases were boys being molested by priests, the liberals in the MSM made sure that the inconvenient truths weren’t talked about. It was always described as child abuse without specifying who was being abused, and what proclivity the abusers had.

There’s a world of music out there in any style imaginable that does not have idiot mouthy libs attached to it.

The moment I hop in my truck, I listen to either SOS or the K-LOVE Christian Radio Network, both contemporary Christian music stations.

Great stuff, and it gets your day going in the right way.

I owe my wife for introducing me to these stations.

Thanks, hon!

Think some folks might be standing in line at their local CT DMV this week?

I’m an 80s metalhead...a time when the men looked hotter than the women! and we were secure enough in our manhood to wear spandex! ;)

In the last 2 years I have come to appreciate all sorts of music I never listened to in my 46 years...Trance/Goa, EDM in general and lately I am discovering the sheer wonder of Baroque/classical. Still a real noob there in need of guidance, but I’m liking anything with a harpsichord and Wagner type pieces.

I left my college in the middle of my second year (1971). It was because they changed their grading system from a traditional A-F Grade Point System to a more “egalitarian” and “Collectivist’ Pass/fail system...all one had to to do pass was show up. Up till that point I had been an All-A Student.

Years later, when I tried to continue my degree, my new educators REFUSED to give me credit for my first three semesters because of the pass/fail transcript.

So, all my life, I just taught myself what I needed to know. And I do OK.

PSU shouldn’t worry too much about Moody’s... if things get ugly Obama and Duncan and the taxpayer will bail them out.

Don’t forget the cadres of pederasts/pederast-enablers right here on FR who pretend Paterno is just some hired underling instead of Il Duce.

Any other Southern Gospel fans here in FReeperville?

See my post #89.

I rarely listen to Southern gospel, but I grew up with the music of Mahalia Jackson. Man, could that woman sing!

As for the contemporary Christian music, I absolutely LOVE the Newsboys. Pull up "He Reigns" or "It is You" on YouTube. Great stuff!

My wife's favorite artists are Third Day, Chris Tomlin, Kutlass, Casting Crowns, and Toby Mac (of DC Talk).

My daughter loves Jeremy Camp.

My grandson loves Mercy Me.

So you see, the libs would be proud: we're a model of diversity. Lol!

May I suggest Mozart? His music is brilliant. I use Mozart to teach the principles of Composition. Every Melody has a “hook”, like the best crafted jazz melodies that one can’t forget.

Eine Kleine Nachmusik, His piano Sonatas, and The Magic Flute are terrific.

If you are coming from a Heavy metal background, I suggest the Russians. Moussorgsky, Borodin, and Rimsky-Korsakov will knock your socks off!

FReep me for more suggestions if you like.

You don’t have to be ashamed of your Alma Mater. Be ashamed of the idiots who turned their back on the victims at Penn State. There is a lot of them sadly.
