FReeper Canteen ~ Sunday Chapel ~ THE KEY TO FAILURE ~ 13 November 2011

THE KEY TO FAILURE

I recently read a devotion in God's Little Devotional Book for Women, which really touched my life. This book was copyrighted in 1996 by Honor Books, Inc. in Tulsa Oklahoma. The story on pages 98 and 99 tells of a painter who wanted to produce one work which would please everyone. So she painted a picture, and hung it in the public marketplace. She posted directions for people to mark the places they did not like with a small paint brush. She was surprised when she returned to find her picture was just a blob.

So, the next day, she took another copy of the painting and asked people to mark the places they liked. By the afternoon, the picture was exactly the same blob. The artist concluded, "I now believe the best way to please one-half of the world is not to mind what the other half thinks or says."

People always have an opinion about what we say or do, and the key to failure is to try to please everyone. The key to success, on the other hand, is to live according to God's opinions...those spelled out in the Bible. Then we will not fret over the opinions of others.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

“I now believe the best way to please one-half of the world is not to mind what the other half thinks or says.”

I believe, and do try to be helpful to fullest extent possible minus being taken advantage of.

I have made many friends, and I have found many users.

Good evening, Idaho...and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you as well.

Fredd getting the hang of “no barking”?

Our snow seems to be here to stay...it’s been snowing gently all day, but about 27 degrees.

Hi Kathy In Alaska,
Thanks for letting me share my new song with the Troops again! I hope they all get a chance to hear it!
Carolyn Owen (Quill Pen)

America has paid a price for the freedom we enjoy. This song is dedicated to remembering that...

I have a brand new song called "It's A Free Country" that all of America needs to hear. I made a video of me performing it, and posted it on YouTube.

Click the link or the photo to watch:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOx9GOmdqhA

I would like to dedicate it to the Troops who make our Freedom possible.

Thanks to Fudd Fan, Kathy in Alaska, Onyx, and Freekitty for their support of the message in my song.

God Bless and Protect Our Troops!

Quill Pen (Carolyn Owen)

"It's A Free Country" - Carolyn Owen
                                     (C) 2011 Carolyn Owen

Somewhere in America there's someone reaching up
Striving hard to raise the bar to fill that golden cup
And wherever there's a need there's a will to create
And someone there to raise a hand and step up to the plate

It's A Free Country - where dreams come true
'Cause once you've tasted freedom a cage will never do
It's A Free Country - as long as we live and breathe
So don't tread on me, no don't tread on me
It's A Free Country

Anywhere in America there's still pursuit of liberty
With hands and heart and hope - breathing the blessed air of democracy
And as the centuries relentlessly roll - we must stand tall against our foes
Standing true, standing strong - and tyranny oppose

It's A Free Country - where dreams come true
'Cause once you've tasted freedom a cage will never do
It's A Free Country - as long as we live and breathe
So don't tread on me, no don't tread on me
It's A Free Country

So say a prayer for America - because we really care
We believe in freedom for all the world to share
We live to be free, we've died to be free
It's A Free Country

It's A Free Country - where dreams come true
'Cause once you've tasted freedom a cage will never do
It's A Free Country - as long as we live and breathe
So don't tread on me, no don't tread on me
It's A Free Country

> Please stop in and say a prayer of protection for the military. Prayers from all denominations are needed.

Hi Kathy,

Prayers up! May God Bless and Protect our Troops, grant them strength and resolve, and lighten their heavy load. We here safe at home tonight are deeply indebted to those who are risking their lives daily in defense of Freedom. Praying for their safety is the very least we can do, but it matters a lot.

I also want to take a moment to express my appreciation for you and the other folks who run the Canteen thread. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication.

Best FRegards and may God Bless,
Dayglored

Be Who You Are
November 13, 2011

While awaiting a routine medical procedure in a local hospital, I noticed a wall plaque showing Christ on a cross. Later, a nurse asked me several administrative questions, in-cluding, “Do you have any spiritual needs you’d like to discuss with a chaplain?” I said that I appreciated her asking that question, which I found unusual in today’s world. She replied with a smile that they are a faith-based hospital and “that’s part of our mission.” I was impressed that the people were not afraid to be who they are in an increasingly secular and pluralistic society.

Peter urged the first-century believers who had been scattered by persecution and were living in a hostile world to consider it a blessing to suffer for the sake of what is right. “But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats. Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it” (1 Peter 3:14-15 NLT).

Just as the woman at the hospital freely stated their faith, so we can express ours. And if we are criticized or treated unfairly because of our belief in Christ, we should respond with gentleness and respect. We should never be afraid to be who we are in Him.

Whenever people judge and say
They don’t like what we believe,
We need to show a Christlike grace—
Then our Lord they might receive. —Branon

It’s better to suffer for the cause of Christ
than for the cause of Christ to suffer.

Read: 1 Peter 3:8-17

Even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. —1 Peter 3:14

Fredd getting the hang of “no barking”? Kinda. He has stopped much of it, yet I really keep a eye on him and since it is colder people aren't walking as much. Snowing now. We only have a few inches. I think ours will stay as well.

I have made many friends, and I have found many users.

This is so true...and in all societies all across the world. There have always been, and will always be, those that want someone else to do all the work for them to enjoy...something for nothing.
