CNN is carrying the debate live at 8 p.m. EST.
Participating candidates are: businessman Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Reps. Ron Paul (TX) and Michele Bachmann (MN), former Gov. Jon Huntsman, and former Sen. Rick Santorum.
Remember, Perry is AGAINST THAT.

I think Rick Perry is also a generally nice guy. From the quick marshalling of the DNC.media attack goons toward Rick, I would guess the democrats a while ago saw Rick Perry as a threat to their little barry and that’s why Obama and his toilet czars have been trying everything they can do to make life harder in Texas under Governor Perry. I don’t doubt that Rick or Herman or Michelle or Rick Snatorum or Newt could step into the WHite House and bring America back from the brink. But I happen to believe Newt Gingrich has the most detailed and far reaching plan to restore America and in the process cause the democrat socialist paradigm to become something obscene to American voters. Clearly the democrats want America to be transformed into a European Socialist model nation. It is a nightmare for which they need to be thoroughly rejected, permanently. The scum in the streets of our cities are there because democrats want the vermin ‘in our face’.

I was just thinking, if abortion hadn’t been legalized we would have what, 55 million more citizens from the age of 38 to newborn. The immigrant job issue to me is a non-issue. The illegal immigrant issue is to vet them and either deport or legalize.
Perry is really locking down on the Border.
He is the ONLY one that recognizes that we have tons of OTM (other than Mexicans) crossing the border.

Since you think you’ll get flamed, let me say that I agree with your statements. See, I think both Newt AND Herman would do well with most Americans, and wouldn’t a ticket having both of them be something for BHO/Biden to contend with? I’d love it - they’d have all the bases covered and I really think they’d win.

All Perry did was try to reduce Texas tax costs by addressing a social problem without forcing anyone to pay.

It wasn’t a mandate in the true sense of the word.
A temporary worker program is not amnesty. Nor is a temporary worker necessarily an ILLEGAL immigrant. Unless he said for those who are living and working here illegally then you can’t make that leap. I know people working here on a temporary work VISA. Even when their company helps them get an extension the hoops they have to jump through are ridiculous. Meanwhile those disobeying the law are getting special protection. Why should people doing it the right way be punished? If you can find where he specified these people he’s talking about are ILLEGAL can you please provide a link to the quote?
As for a “program other than amnesty” for making them legal, that could mean sending them home and making them come in the right way. It could mean putting the onus (especially financial penalties) on employers who hire and don’t report illegals. Other than amnesty means they can’t stay, unless I’m misunderstanding the word. If they’re continually kicked out (hopefully that won’t be such a huge problem when we have a fence) getting here becomes a bigger financial burden than coming in the front door. Eliminating sanctuary cities and empowering states could also be a powerful incentive for coming in the front door. The harder it is for them to be here, no government help or services, no jobs would certainly work as a way to “help” them become legal. Again, if you have a specific quote from him about an amnesty plan could post a link to it?
