Cain Surges to Retake National Lead
email from Herman Cain Campaign | November 26, 2011 | Herman Cain

Edited on 11/26/2011 10:02:42 AM PST by Admin Moderator. [history]

Dear Patriots and Supporters,

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving together on Thursday. After spending so much time on the road recently, I was thankful for the time to spend with my wife, children, grandchildren and friends.

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving as well.

I am excited to share a recent Rasmussen (conducted November 21-22) which shows me retaking the lead nationally with 26 percent support. I am leading Governor Romney and Speaker Gingrich by 3 and 12 percent respectively.

The American people want a true conservative in the White House. They are tired of career politicians who are more concerned with getting reelected than fixing the problems that are plaguing our economy.

I have the solutions, and the American people are lining up to show their support.

[mod edit to remove campaign contribution solicitation]

I pray you and your family enjoyed a great Thanksgiving yesterday. We Americans have so much to be thankful for.

Thank you and God bless.

Sincerely,

Herman Cain

PS- We will be releasing an exciting new video series this Monday. I will be previewing the video this Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union. Be sure to check your local listings

Who’s lying... As I see it, Newt’s the last, best, chance at stopping Romney. I’ve made that point clear many times. I’ve been critical of all the candidates - to include Newt. Yes, I’ve been critical of Cain and in each instance it was well deserved. I’ll stop being critical of Cain when he stops giving me reason to be.

-—”I am excited to share a recent Rasmussen (conducted November 21-22) which shows me retaking the lead nationally with 26 percent support. I am leading Governor Romney and Speaker Gingrich by 3 and 12 percent respectively”-—

It was actually from Nov. 3rd.

Written by Herman Cain himself, eh?

Wow. Yet ANOTHER ridiculous error on Herman Cain’s end. Poor research, bad information, and he send sit out himself.

Just wow! I mean, did he really do this? Wow.

That was my first reaction as well...

I also note in a previous post:

At best, the Cain camp should've known better - if they unwittingly put this out. At worst, knowingly using false polling data to gin up excitement - and by extension the willingness to donate - is disturbing...

I have not seen any new polls for the last week or so. What happened, they used come out every other day.

Short week. Holiday’s. Probably not a prime polling opportunity.

Evidently, there has been a few websites that have put this information out and Herman’s campaign thought it was real.

So what! Remember when CNN said that Bush died overseas.

Give Herman a break. It’s no big deal. I hope he has a big surge!

Donating to Cain is a total waste of your money.

2007 Crusader (2007 Crusader)

Having your tagline be the same as your screen name is a total waste of your tagline.

Pointing out that the info is maybe a tad dated isn't the same as running the guy down, saying he's not a conservative, would be a bad president etc.

For the record, Cain is a conservative and would probably make a good president.

This once again illustrates one of Cain’s major flaws — his repeated tendency to react to bad information before checking it out.

When you are President, you can’t go off half-cocked based on incomplete information. Imagine Cain as President, and he gets a report that Pakistan just took out a platoon of our troops. He reacts as he does here, going off and launching a counter-strike, only to find out that the initial intelligence was wrong, and that no attack occured.

“Oops” isn’t going to cut it. Wars have been started by leaders who couldn’t wait for all the information.

This particular error by Cain is not serious in and of itself. But the pattern is clear.

As we all know now, this e-mail was based on erroneous information, and refers to a poll from November 2nd.

The origin of the error comes here: Newsmax: Rasmussen: Obama Leads...

It appears someone at Newsmax left a paragraph sitting around in their story, refering to the old poll. The last paragraph reads:

Among likely GOP primary voters nationwide, Romney is just behind businessman Herman Cain with 23 percent support; Cain earns 26 percent of the vote and Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is in third with 14 percent support. Romney runs best in New Hampshire – where he picks up a commanding 41 percent of the vote -- but falls short of Cain in Iowa, South Carolina and Florida.

So it appears that the Cain campaign has NOT subscribed to Rasmussen's feed (if they did, they'd get their information directly), and instead of checking with Rasmussen, they reacted to a Newsmax story.

I love Newsmax -- but I will tell you that I wouldn't generally count on it directly. Go to the source material. I wouldn't make this mistake in my local opinion column. College students are taught to go to original sources. But sending out a donation e-mail using faulty information is a pretty rookie mistake.

" Besides it’s NOT your money so why should you give a flying rip "

Because they want you to give money to their candidate and they are so sure that their candidate is going to win.

Who is this mysterious “they”? I will choose what candidate to support & when and how much I will contribute. If I give it’s because I’ve studied the candidates and chosen the one I can support. It’s none of your business. None.

Cain/Gingrich works for me.

Then we have a steady core conservative at helm, with a congressional expert to help move the legislation.
