Let's get this out of the way right now: I am an "ABR" Republican. Anybody But Romney (or Ron Paul). I would also like to point out that Cupp hates Newt Gingrich, the guy Palin will most likely end up endorsing (if she endorses anyone before the nomination.

endrosing Newt is the absolute wrong thing for Sarah to do. She shouldn’t endorse any of these guys.

Newt is almost the polar opposite of her stated beliefs on many issues.

I’m beginning to wonder if we’ll have a nominee.

It’s not going to happen so why bother writing an article about it?

In what universe is Romney on any conservative voter’s preferred candidate list, let alone in the #2 spot?

I can’t see Palin’s endorsement doing anything for Mitt.

The problem is Mitt’s incapable of generating even a smidgeon of enthusiasm. He has no personality. He’s not likeable; he’s not unlikable. Maybe he’s a Vulcan, although Mr. Spock definitely had more appeal than Mitt. I actually wonder if a bimbo eruption or DUI arrest might help Mitt in that it would make him appear more normal.

Romney-Palin would end up with the same result as McCain-Palin.

Who comes up with this stuff?

The odds of this happening are about one in a million. And even if she DID endorse Mitt, none of her fans would believe it.

My own reaction would be something like, “Look, there’s a flying saucer over there! Endorsement? What endorsement?”

Bull crap, Palin has no interest in endorsing a lobbyist and an amnesty pusher like newt. Never going to happen.

Romney for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

As Romney’s “last man standing” strategy seems to be crumpling as recent state polls show him and his favorability inching downward ever so slowly, there is something particularly rich about the scenario of him becoming twitchingly desperate for a Palin endorsement. Especially after all those knives his operatives have systematically been jabbing her in the back these past three years.

The only candidate whom Palin previously has endorsed, I believe, is Perry in his most recent re-election bid. But I doubt Perry can mount a comeback, even if Palin WERE inclined to endorse him for the presidency.

My guess is Palin will not endorse until the result of the nomination process is pretty obvious.

I really doubt that Palin is going to jump on the Mitt bandwagon. Unless, God forbid, he manages to get the nomination. And even then I think her support would be grudging.

It’ll never happen, but I have to give SE credit where credit is due.

She’s the first Ivy League pundit who seems to understand that her fellow Ivy Leaguers have worn out their welcome - and this is evidenced in Romney’s low numbers.

The problem for SE’s idea of Mittens bringing Palin on board is that the Ivy crowd that surrounds Romney would stab Palin in the back incessantly and mercilessly.

Palin knows this, because the crowd surrounding Romney is composed of many McCain/Dole retreads.

I suspect Sarah won’t endorse anyone, but she’s already said that she WILL support the eventual nominee, because she wants Obama GONE!

I am convinced Hussein hates America.

I do not think ANY of our candidates hate America.

The worst candidate we have, in my opinion, is the one who openly worked for Hussein: Huntsman.

But, if the electable choices are Huntsman vs. Obama, I will vote for Huntsman.

My position: Anyone But Obama.

Palin and Romney have both shrugged off the idea of a rivalry, but relations seem strained between the former governors

Well, duh!

Palin's no dummy and I'm sure she knows that it was former Romney staff, moved over to the McCain/Palin campaign, that were mostly responsible for the backstabbing when she was McCain's VP in the last Presidential election cycle.

And also his operatives that smeared her relentlessly after McCain handed the election to Obama.

Getting Palin — who warned in June that attracting Tea Party support would be “a big challenge” for Romney — to give him her imprimatur is no small undertaking, but one that Romney shouldn’t write off as a lost cause.

Good luck with that, Romney.

I doubt Palin will support one who viciously attacked her. And not himself, but like Obama sent his henchmen in to attack her.

So why not Palin? It could be argued that she needs him, too.

Nope, S.E. Any republican that wishes to become president needs Palin, she doesn't need any of them. Her base is solid.

SE Cupp an excellent writer, as well as a class A1 hottie!

Palin and Romney are an impossible union of opposites. Palin’s endorsement would not help him, but it surely would hurt her. I liked Cupp’s amusing explanation of “bless your heart.” Southerners say that where New Yorkers yell, “Hey, f#%k you, buddy!” As a transplant, it strikes me how Southerners tend to be so indirect, oblique in their speech. Must be some social-cultural reasons for it that I don’t quite grasp.
