Better that than Romney or Huntsman.

Very disheartening that we can’t get a real conservative

I thought Newt is a RINO. What is up with that?

Well, I hope Newt returns the favor and picks Cain for VP.

Nothing stopping anyone from voting for Cain. He’s still on the ballot, perhaps enough votes would persuade him to get back in the game?

Interesting how most of the Cain supporters, the ones who were for an anti-establishment outsider, have mostly switched to arguably the most establishment insider of all the remaining candidates.

What’s up with that?

Loyalty is not transferable.
Gingrich has plenty of confidence, and what else?
The “smartest guys in the room” got us into the mess we’re in. Do you really want another?

I like Cain. Quite a lot. But he can’t sell me on Gingrich. Good news, though, that he didn’t go with Romney.

Thinking Newt’s a rino and reveiwing his record on conservativism is two different things....I looked closely at that and why I am for Newt. He isn’t a Rino as some have falsely accused him of.

I'm sitting it out until the convention.

I don't think it is going to be business-as-usual this time around.

Look at their accomplishments. Newt allied himself with Ronald Reagan to build the Reagan Coalition, the Religious Right, and the Republican majority (together the Reagan Revolution) which directly led the downfall of the Soviet Union, the Contract with America, government reforms, less government, tax cuts, a balanced budget, and the great, long-standing Reagan economy.

Romney, on the other hand, vehemently denied Ronald Reagan and aligned himself with Ted Kennedy and the left. Romney accomplished installing liberal big government programs, defended and promoted Roe v Wade and legalized abortion as “settled law,” advocated and implemented RomneyCare with its liberty killing government mandates against formerly free citizens and its taxpayer funded or subsidized and mandated abortion procedures. He ran and governed to the left of Ted Kennedy on the “gay agenda” resulting in gay marriage in Massachusetts. He appointed liberal judges and liberal appointees throughout his government. Under his “leadership” conservatism and the Republican party was all but destroyed in Massachusetts.

Romney is one evil liberal progressive. No way in hell will MittBots be allowed to support this abortionist, big government, socialist scumbag on FR!

Guess my message isn’t clear enough. I have to keep repeating it and zotting would be MittBots.

http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/11/would-herman-cain-be-newt-gingrichs-running-mate/249138/

11/28/11:
>>It’s mid-2012. Newt Gingrich has won the Republican primary. (Thought experiment — play along.) Who does he choose as his running mate?

The former House speaker has said — only partly in jest — that he might like to share the ticket with fellow candidate Herman Cain.

Gingrich and Cain participated in a two-man “debate” that was more like a lovefest in Texas earlier this month, and before it began, they struck the classic running-mate pose: adjacent arms around each other’s waists, outside arms waving, like a two-headed presidential monster.

“I want you all to know, we both think you just saw the ticket, but we disagree about which of us has which job,” Gingrich said.

Cain added, “So let’s hold our hands up one more time like this. We’re just sayin’!”

I don’t think he is either. I was making a point. So many people here believe he is and the then there goes Cain supporting him. Amazing. Newt is my second choice after Perry. I reallly like him.

The difference is that Newt really is the smartest guy in the room, rather than Obama who was just marketed as such.

>>> The “smartest guys in the room” got us into the mess we’re in. Do you really want another? >>>

wow. Shallow shallow analysis, but pithy. Truth is, smart folks did not get us into any mess. Folks who wrongly thought they were smart - as in elitists - got us into this mess. Ivy League ivory tower elites who are not that smart.

Newt is a good ole West Georgia boy who legitimately is smart. Runs his mouth too much. Is too arrogant. Has gone down some academic rabbit trails of government tinkering. I’ll give you all that.

But he is legitimately smart, unlike Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and Franklin Rains and Jamie Goreick and Janet Reno and all the Ivy leaguers who got us into this mess.
