On Global Warming/Cap-and-trade: Newt will continue to oppose the Democrats’ destructive cap-and-trade and carbon tax proposals,... continue to support expanded domestic oil and gas drilling,... and continue to fight for a fundamental replacement of the job-killing Environmental Protection Agency with an Environmental Solutions Agency.

Wrong. I have followed Newt very closely over the years. I have studied is ego. If he wins, he will be rabid for "government" solutions to AGW.

Newt is lying when he states he has changed his position on AGW. He is just pandering for votes. He is like most D.C. Pols.

Look up his recent interview on Levin's show. It's painful to listen how he "wants" to still believe in the "crisis" of climate change. No hint from Newt of the absolute fraud of the AGW cabal.

I am certain, if elected, he will push carbon reduction and other AGW measures.

Newt is a technocrat at heart and technocrats love solving non-existent problems with grandiose big government solutions. It feeds their enormous egos.

With that said, Newt would be immeasurably better than Mitt. Newt would easily get my vote, but I will expect he will disappoint us on many fronts. Still, he would be more conservative than the two Bushes by far.

Newt could be a great President if he truly embraced slashing government and reducing it in absolute terms. I don't think it's in his DNA to take the truly bold steps.

I will not vote for a RINO in the primary, regardless of Mr. Cain’s endorsement, however, if Gingrich gets the nomination, I will reluctantly vote for him in the general.

Better that than Romney or Huntsman.

Perhaps, but the difference deals in shades of grey for me. I would have preferred that he didn't endorse any of them. I suppose when it comes down to it his conservatism is for sale just like so many others who practice politics as their religion. At least I hope Cain got a good promise from Newty for his endorsement.

Well, I hope Newt returns the favor and picks Cain for VP.

Why not. After all the VP is the gag prize. It is about as valuable as a cupie doll prize at a carnival.

What’s up with that?

It's all about the ABO candidate. aka the lesser of the two evils as usual.

This weekend, ABC tried to paint Gingrich as arrogant by slicing his interview out of context.

ABC baited Gingrich, by suggesting that he would NOT be the nominee,
so then it was his duty to vet OTHER candidates (primarily Romney) that WOULD be the nominee.

Gingrich looked incredulously back at him for suggesting that HE WILL NOT be the nominee.
Gingrich twice explains that there was no need for that.

The reporter then speaks the EXACT WORDS he wants to hear Gingrich say:
"You're going to be the nominee?"
and Newt repeats back the reporter's words,
"I'm going to be the nominee"

Here is the full exchange:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=monfqUOW3Vg

ABC: How do you respond to Republicans who say...
if you don't draw the distinctions with Mitt Romney
and others who are attacking you...
If YOU don't point out what THEIR perceived vulnerabilities are...
Barack Obama and the Democrats sure aren't going to show
      the same reluctance.
And YOU'RE doing OBAMA a favor by staying positive...

[Newt looked puzzled at that long winded question, since the
reporter was clearly implying that HE WILL NOT be the nominee]

[Newt shrugs his shoulders and shakes his head, implying that was a dumb question]

Gingrich: They're not going to be the nominee...

I mean, I don't have to go around and point out
the inconsistencies of people who aren't going
to be the nominee. They're not going to be the nominee

ABC: YOU'RE going to be the nominee?

Gingrich: I'm going to be the nominee.
..................................................
And ONLY that out-of-context last sentence plus what follows,
is what ABC reported, and shared with other MSM.

Most people will NEVER hear the reporter ask...

YOU'RE going to be the nominee?

( If I have accidentally 'cc'ed any Gingrich-haters, please do not reply to me. Thanks. )

Nixon, LBJ, Humphrey, Ford, Mondale, Bush, Dole, Gore all became the Presidential nominee after being the VP or VP nominee.

I’m not a Gingrich ‘hater’ but I’m definitely not a supporter.

“The “smartest guys in the room” got us into the mess we’re in. Do you really want another?”

Yeah. We DO. We can’t survive another four years of a clueless imbecile like Obama.

This makes sense, actually. Cain’s main weakness was also his strength; his lack of Washington experience.

Newt was the one among the other guys who had Washington experience, yet was philosophically closest to Herman on the issues.

Cain endorsed Romney last time around...and he might again! I think in a few weeks it’ll be hard to find recent Cain news on google. Media will consider him irrelevant. And by the time the primaries get started, scales will have fallen from the eyes of his supporters.
Cain’s contribution has been to show us how quick people are (even sensible, politically mature conservatives) to fall under the spell of a superficially charming huckster who, like a certain Music Man, “can’t read a note of music!”
