Newt fires back at Pelosi: Bring it on!
The Right Scoop ^ | 12/5/2011 | The Right Scoop

Posted on 12/05/2011 12:16:16 PM PST by TBBT

Newt today said that if Pelosi wants to disclose information about himself from when she was on the ethics committee, that the House should immediately file charges against her as that is a violation of the rules of the House:

First of all I’d like to thank Speaker Pelosi for what I regard as an early Christmas gift. If she’s suggesting she’s gonna use material she developed while she was on the ethics committee, that is a fundamental violation of the rules of the House and I would hope members would immediately file charges against her the second she does it.

Here’s the full clip:

Huh? This was all over the press when it happened. There was no substance to it; the Dems were simply mad at him for being so effective. The GOP was also mad at him for being so effective (which they called “divisive”) and dumped him.

There is nothing to “expose.” That’s why Gingrich isn’t worried about it.

Pelosi, on the other hand, by making this threat (since she was part of the official panel that was reviewing the information), has probably put herself in a very difficult legal position.

I think Gingrich would have stayed, but the problem is that the GOP bailed on him because they really didn’t want somebody like him (he was “too confrontational”). I remember listening to Rush when all this was going down.

It was truly bizarre. Gingrich really had no choice but to quit as Speaker, since the GOP had basically announced that it would not support him (and you can’t stay if your party won’t support you).

Note that nothing was ever found against him. But GOP Central wanted him out of the Speakership and they voted in Gephardt, who was exactly the RINO of their dreams. They lost the next round and the Speakership went to Dodd, who was probably also the candidate of GOP dreams...since they obviously all wanted to be Democrats.

I’d have thought that even the threat of revealing information garnered as a member of the ethics committee would itself be grounds for an ethics complaint against Nancy.

I have no idea. We've got nothing. I can't believe this is where we find ourselves. This election should have been a cakewalk for conservatives.

It sure looks as if we are heading for another "Anybody But The Democrat" election.

Gingrich is extremely intelligent.

Based on what? He writes "history" books that read like they were written by a third grader. He proclaimed climate change so the smart kids would like him.

Nick, regarding your tagline...

Is Chaffee being considered for VP by Gingrich? I have not heard anything like that, and I am in Rhode Island. He wouldn’t be THAT stupid, would he?

Chaffee is a colossal disaster, and while I could hold my nose and vote for Newt, I wouldn’t even consider it if Chaffee was on the ticket. Just because it would show Newt’s bad judgement.

Or is the tagline a joke of some sort?

This drive-by assassination drives me crazy. I’ve experienced the Gingrich Family first hand. They supported my 2 combat infantry sons in Afghanistan and they are certainly not the dysfunctional family the Dems portray them as. They are all about substance and preserving the culture of the greatest nation ever to exist. Gingrich is real Commander in Chief material. The left can’t stand a conservative that actually has substance and skill. Newt certainly does not need to carry this burden, but he knows what America needs and at 68 he is passionate and determined to take on the media and the Democrats to save America. He is the epitome of the self-made man and he will not apologize for his success or his principles no matter how the left tries to distort and smear him. He is the inspiration that America longs for. It is not his PhD or his books, it is the love of America in his heart that inspires him.

"Newt has admitted the ad was his most singularly worst decision."

You know, I hope you and others are just as forgiving of Perry and misstatements/gaffes he's made and apologized for/re-thought.

But I expect, for some reason, that won't be the case.

Who are you for, Nick?

I've supported Perry from the start and I have no intention of switching unless and until he drops out or it becomes apparent that he can't make it.

That's not apparent to me yet.

If Free Republic is a microcosm of the country, there seems to be as much fear and loathing of Newt as there is love.

I don't know where we'll end up.

If Newt doesn't shoot himself in the butt and if he can keep his mouth shut for five minutes, he may make it.

That’s askin’ an awful lot. Let us pray that Newt can keep his mouth shut and that Perry can loosen his touge. Either one would be better than Romney.
