Glenn Beck characterized Newt Gingrich as a big government "progressive" in the Teddy Roosevelt mold during a radio interview. Beck criticized Gingrich for his support for government initiatives to expand healthcare and curb global warming.

It was a label that Gingrich embraced, saying that in the area of healthcare, "I'm a Theodore Roosevelt Republican and I believe government can lean in the regulatory leaning is okay," according to the transcript of the Glenn Beck radio show.

What? You’re making stuff up.

Beck said Santorum, Bachmann are the only GOP candidates who “fall into the Abraham Lincoln or George Washington character category.” Does that sound like a Libertarian?

Our candidate is supposed to be selected by unanimous acclimation without discussing it first. Haven’t you heard?

I don’t know what “you know actually think Beck is a conservative” but Glenn Beck has repeatedly said he “leans” libertarian but hacks real Libertarians off.

Jim: You have become so doctrinaire that FR is no longer a home for thinking conservatives. It is the cave where arch-reactionaries meet. Why do you think you have so much trouble meeting your quarterly collection? I have posted over the years as Gaspar, Balthazar and Melchior and I guess it is now time to leave.

Not sure if you just on a wind up and saying this but I’ll go along with it.

Think he;s a libertarian because he preaches it, it keeps saying it, what more do you want?

LOL, he hacks real libertarians off , er what is a real libertarian now.
?
See what you think is one another might not.
Beck thinks he is one you might not think he is but the fact he is saying and preaches it makes him one, obviously you seem if you’re serious and not on a wind up think he is not

And he's the only one who is showing some cajones.

I listened to the Beck interview. It seems like many here did not but want to ridicule Beck. Not sure how productive that is.

My take on Newt is that he is realistic. (to a point, I am not sure if he grasps completely how bleak our situation is but he must seeing as he is such an intellect and understands history). He believes that people need to be baby stepped off the government teat. Slowly herded in better directions and that government can play that role. Not sure if I agree entirely with him. It definitely is a larger government stance than any of us are comfortable with but it may be the best option we have right now.

I am rather dismayed that four years of Obama -- safely saying we knew full well he was a communist 6 months in and this is field we have to choose from? But, I am voting for a wood stump over Obama.

Please, lets speak honestly.

Did you read the quote by Stalin that I posted? What he was talking about is being played out in our country now. Liberals intend to make our Republic a socialist mecca. One of the vehicles to do that is to destroy morality. A nation with no moral compass is not capable of self government.

James Madison, who wrote the Constitution said: We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.

If conservatives do not defend what's right and moral, they are helping to destroy the nation.

me too, hell Mickey Mouse has created more jobs than obama and brought more money to the country too and yes I would vote for Mickey and Minnie before this champagne socialist.

If the Dems do not see they are being fooled by this dumb thick clown then they are just as stupid as he is.

Saying that I bet many on the left have no clue about his 57 states, Asia, Austrian, Sioux city, Sunrise, etc etc etc

Hey troll, Free Republic will ALWAYS be the home for thinking conservatives. However, YOU openly support abortion and homosexual "marriage" and this makes you a liberal.

I have posted over the years as Gaspar, Balthazar and Melchior

So, you're a retread? That explains a lot.

By his own words, Melchior is a pro-abortion, pro-gay poster.

Sadly, he’s chosen the fictional name of a Wise Man, who I’m quite certain would not have advised the Virgin to rid herself of her Child via abortion.

No. But he doesn't fight it either. He doesn't understand the need to do so. Melchior and others don't even understand the battle nor what it is. They don't understand the marxist set up to cheapen life and corrupt morals.

Marxists know that if you can get people to accept that murdering the unborn, tearing them from what should be the safest place they will ever be, is a "choice", then they have lessened the value of life.

Marxists know that corrupting sexuality, while teaching children that it is acceptable, will "silence God", and tear at the very fabric of family which is a cornerstone of the Republic.

But people like Melchior are unaware. Maybe they don't want to know. It's not an easy battle to fight government and their mouthpiece, the press, for the soul of a society. They make truth unpopular. and they will shred you for speaking it. Just as Melchior did in his post 86. Because he doesn't understand.

"...I believe that the woman has a right to choose..."

"...if the state votes to approve homosexual marriage, so be it,...."

Those two sound like pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage to me.

The first is clearly pro-abortion. The 2nd is an acceptance of gay marriage, and I see the distinction between acceptance and advocacy as a very thin line.

You left out something.

I believe that the woman has a right to choose, now matter how badly I disagree.

I believe that if the state votes to approve homosexual marriage, so be it, and, again, no matter how much I disagree.

Again, there are those who simply do not understand the battle.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

He's not disagreeing with the policy, he's saying he might have chosen differently about terminating the pregnancy.

He SUPPORTS the policy of pro-abortion.

Again, there are those who simply do not understand the battle.

They understand the battle just fine, they are CHOOSING evil.

All the troll is doing is using his version of the "I'm personally opposed...but" mantra that the left loves to hide behind.

When dealing with moral matters of good vs. evil, trying to portray a position of neutrality is actually the same as siding with evil.

Nobody would dare have the nerve to publicly say, "I'm personally opposed to genocide, but I don't want to impose my views on others." Yet, that is EXACTLY what they are saying about abortion.
