Newt Gingrich Rips Panetta's Israel Policy Speech

The former House speaker doesn't like Panetta pressuring Israel to 'get to the damn table' for peace negotiations

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich continues to rail against the Obama administration for its Israel policy, saying it is "actively and materially harming Israel" after a speech by the administration's Pentagon Chief Leon Panetta.

In a post on his campaign website yesterday, Gingrich attacked the three pillars of U.S. policy toward the Middle East that Panetta laid out in his speech at the Brookings Institution on Friday, suggesting the policies are actually hurting, rather than helping.

Gingrich's position is no surprise, as the GOP 2012 candidates have taken turns bashing most areas of Obama's policy overall, and particularly foreign policy regarding Israel.

And today, the major candidates—except for Ron Paul, who believes the United States should cut aid to Israel and let it handle its own affairs—are expressing their take at the Republican Jewish Coalition's 2012 Republican Presidential Candidates Forum in Washington.

Although not the perfect candidate, Newt continues to pursue some policies that are conservative. And some is better than the none we have now.

I agree, As long as Newt can stay disciplined, we will get more of this and less of “conservative social engineering” comments.

You go, Speaker Gingrich.

This is the sort of thing we should keep the conversations about.

Not decades old Alinsky crap.

I am still udecided on Newt, but it’s about time someone said some of this stuff. I don’t care if it appears to be pandering, I want a bright line drawn in how Democrats have treated Israel, and in other areas. No one ever calls Democrats out on this stuff, and the corrupt MSM sure won’t.

This Dick Obama administration is such a weasel. One end of the weasel (obama) celebrates Hanukka and says what a wonderful friend Israel is. The other end of the weasel (hillary, panetta, etc.) rips Israel to shreds.

They always seem to have something to say in speeches and the opposite policy gets put into play.

All liberalism is dishonesty.

“Revenues” rather than taxes.

“Choice” rather than abortion.

If liberals were not liars, nobody would vote for them, because their policies are harmful and anti-American.

Why would anyone believe liberals would be any different about Israel.

Liberals lie. All liberals lie. All the time. About everything.

It’s what liberals do.

Why would anyone, who is not actually in a coma, expect truth from Obama about Israel?

Seriously.

Why??

Good for Newt! he is saying the right things now. Little by little I am warming up to him. His recent interview he said that if Israel were to attack Iran—he would ask how could the US help? This is the right answer. We need leadership and I believe Newt could do it.

It is not pandering to say what is obviouslytrue: that the American Establishment has been speaking out of both sides of its mouth for thirty years and allowed Arafat and his thugs to score this propoganda Coup Palestinian is like Aryan, a phrase coined for political purposes and having little relation to historic fact.
