Carney: America Is 'Fighting' the Taliban, but the Taliban Is Not America's Enemy Daniel Halper December 19, 2011 4:44 PM
White House spokesman Jay Carney was asked about Vice President Joe Biden's comments on the Taliban earlier today. "Look," Biden said in an interview in Newsweek, "the Taliban per se is not our enemy."
Carney's response was a bit muddled. "I think its important . . . to understand what most Americans I think know which is that we did not invade Afghanistan, we did not send U.S. military personnel into Afghanistan because the Taliban were in power," Carney said. "They had been in power. We went into Afghanistan because Al Qaeda had launched an attack against the United States from Afghanistan."
The president's spokesman continued:
"And what the vice president was reflecting is that and this is related to the reconciliation process that I was just discussing is that the Taliban, per se while we are fighting them it is not the elimination the elimination of the Taliban is not the issue here. The objective that the president laid out when he laid out his Afghanistan strategy made clear that the his number one principle here is to defeat, dismantle disrupt, dismantle and ultimately defeat Al Qaeda. As well as help stabilize Afghanistan and thats what were doing. Part of that process, is our support for the Afghan-led reconciliation talks. The conditions for reconciliation for the Taliban are very clear, but reconciliation has to be part of the long-time the long-term process in Afghanistan if Afghanistan is going to evolve into a peaceful country."
To sum up Carney's thoughts: America is "fighting" the Taliban, but the Taliban is not America's enemy.
Too many Americans are just simply not intelligent enough to see how this makes sense, and I have to admit to being one of them.
The enemy is Joe Biden and people like him.
LOL!
You know, I always think of the circus when I hear the name carney . .
can you hear the very loud sucking sound from the Obama Admin sucking up to the Taliban
Doesn’t Barry have someone trying to make nice with the Taliban. So we’re getting all of these idiotic statements so that the Tallies will not think we don’t like them.
These are the people who shot the woman in the head in the soccer stadium because she showed some ankle getting out of a van.
They are laying the groundwork for our leaving Afghanistan and the Taliban taking over the country once we’re gone. It’s all designed to make sure that the media will be cheerleaders for Obama and that Obama won’t bear any blame for the Taliban taking the country back over. See, they weren’t REALLY the enemy and their control over Afghanistan won’t reflect in any way upon Obama. If there is fault, it surely must be with Bush. It’s ALWAYS Bush’s fault. Always.
What a maroon!!
What a buffoon!!
He’s a buh-roon!!!
The Taliban may not be America’s most dangerous enemy but their many treacherous co-conspirators living in this country certainly are.

Well, if they’re not our enemy, then what the hell are they? Isn’t this Carney one total and complete unadulterated a$$hole?

Every day it is most revealing how much trouble our country is in...worse and worse everyday, every hour, every moment, stay on the alert for Wag The Dog...
Agreed.
I’m sure the Tallies will turn Kabul back into the center of enlightenment it was when they were in charge.
