We will never see the data. It’s like the cover-up of effects of women in the ranks. What will happen is there will be a bunch of incidents and one will make the headlines and the military will quietly change the rules.

There is no valid security reason to keep DADT briefing slides secret. If you don't get the slides, or if you don't get the same slides that you saw personally, scream bloody murder. This is an issue on which you definitely **WILL** get what you want. “Maximum disclosure, minimum delay” is the Army Public Affairs operational rule, and on something like this that is politically sensitive, you may get some delay but you **WILL** get the docs.
Then post the briefing slides on the internet with a link on Free Republic, and your slide-by-slide comments on what offends you, and how some items in the slides which might appear innocuous to civilians are actually problematic because of what is implied but not stated, or leave room for implementation issues.
You can't have spent forty years in uniform in the Texas National Guard without being a senior officer or senior NCO. That means what you say will carry credibility, both with those in uniform, those who are military-friendly civilians or veterans, and with those in Congress who can make a difference. If these slides contain what I suspect they contain based on the reports I've heard, once they get posted publicly on the internet with appropriate explanatory commentary on the problems, you could do some real good by alerting people to the consequences of DADT repeal.
