Not good. Who is in charge of ‘disqualifying’ signatures. A 10% buffer seems enough to take into account some bad ones.

Republican presidential candidates Michele Bachmann, Jon Huntsman and Rick Santorum did not submit signatures, according to state GOP officials What is up with that? Is it just that their campaigns don't have the cash for paid signature gatherers?

Ouch. That smarts.
Hick-ups generally hit every campaign. It’s surprising, but it’s not a game changer.

That's what I was expecting too... Guess Larry and I were wrong.

Perrys campaign told state election officials it had submitted 11,911 signatures, but a Virginia Republican familiar with the situation said that the Texas governor did not submit the required 10,000. David Axelrod stole them. >

what’s the big deal? VA is just one state out of 50. It’s not like the noination will be decided there. It doesnt even have that many delegates.

I don’t think it will make any difference to the Perry campaign. He should be out before the VA primary.

The article does not say they were disqualified.
The way I read it, it seems to imply that they did not submit 10,000 signatures, which means their guestimate was probably a result of many miscalculations by volunteers due to the last-second chaos.
This would explain the “blind eye” comments, since it would be easy to turn a blind eye to some bad signatures, but impossible to turn a blind eye to not having the required 10,000 signatures on your submitted sheets. Then you’d have to let everyone on.
I have done these things before, and 10%+ DQs is mighty high. It is most likely that they simply never got a correct count amid the hubbub.
I would bet 10-1 that they just didn’t get 10,000 signatures at all. Just my experience and IMHO.

I actually feel sorry for this gentleman. After watching him for many months I have come to wonder if he is capable of putting on his shoes in the morning without assistance? Does he tie his own shoe laces? Can he feed himself? Is he potty trained?
