This is the teenager shot dead by police for brandishing a pellet gun in the hallway of his school - posing with a friend holding the 'weapon'.
Jaime Gonzalez, 15, was gunned down because he would not lower the gun which officers believed was a loaded pistol.
---
He said he heard police run down the hallway and yell 'put the gun down,' before several shots were fired.

Yes, the only reason I can think of is if his remarks were quite personal in nature, as opposed to threats to LE, which would further vindicate their action.
It’s unfortunate, but there’s often no other way to handle these situations. And everyone is on notice that if you don’t drop the gun, LE will shoot to kill.
Even pellet guns are supposed to have orange tips...correct?
Gangsta wannabe who probably tortured animals and bullied younger kids. If he had survived this, he might have died in 3 years as a gangbanger. Sad stuff.
Nope...pellet guns aren’t toys......
I’ve killed scores of creatures with my Crossman pellet gun. Stay out of my garden.
I agree. The cops are not to blame in this issue. I feel bad for all involved — the teen, the teen’s family and the police officers who have to live with the fact they had to shoot this kid.
perhaps a Fast and Furious pellet gun? /s
Kid looks like a Wannabe gang banger.
Nope...pellet guns arent toys......
Even in Norway above .22 caliber you need a permit same as a regular pistol.
he looks full grown to me....much older than the typical 8th grader...I think the cops shoot down too many citizens generally when another method could be used but if I had this mug staring me down...a gangsta type sneer.....what do you do?
I have a BB gun (pellet - same thing) that looks just like that gun. I used it to kill gophers and moles in my back yard. I'd flush them out of tunnels with water or smoke at one or more ends and shoot them as they climbed out another hole. Was always able to kill them with one BB shot. I retired it a few years back because it looks too real, except for the screw wing at the bottom used to insert the CO2 cannister (which is hidden in your palm).
Locally we had a brother kill his sister with one of those bb/pellet guns. If it can kill, it does not need to be colored as safe (red tipped).

Exactly so.
Not a toy AR.
It's just a "feel-good" law politicians made to pander to anti-gun constituents. I think very few cops would pay much attention to red or orange on a gun with only seconds to evaluate the situation.
Plus, criminals would just put orange tips on real guns, anyway.
Of course. Then there are all of those designer pistols being made for women these days that come in a number of “feminine” colors.
I thought that was one of those ‘Hello, Kitty’ mock-ups before I found out more about the lady holding it...
BTW, on the pistol, it is stamped for "ages 16 and older". Definitely not a toy.
I was thinking the same thing.
