Club for Growth Blasts Gingrich for Bain Attacks
National Review Online ^ | January 9, 2012 | Patrick Brennan

Posted on 01/09/2012 10:01:52 PM PST by Saundra Duffy

In a press release this afternoon, Club for Growth criticized Newt Gingrich for his attacks on Mitt Romney’s career at Bain Capital, calling them unbecoming a “Reagan Conservative.” Club for Growth’s statement:

Yesterday, Gingrich said “Those of us who believe in free markets and those of us who believe that in fact the whole goal of investment is entrepreneurship and job creation…we find it pretty hard to justify rich people figuring out clever legal ways to loot a company, leaving behind 1,700 families without a job.” Gingrich’s attack was echoed that same day that by the Democratic National Committee, which also attacked Romney for his job creation record at Bain Capital.

“Newt Gingrich’s attacks on Mitt Romney’s record at Bain Capital are disgusting,” said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. “There are a number of issues for Mitt Romney’s Republican opponents to attack him for, but attacking him for making investments in companies to create a profit for his investors is just wrong. Because of the efforts of Bain Capital, major companies like Staples, Domino’s Pizza, and the Sports Authority now employ thousands of people and have created billions in wealth in the private economy. Attacking Governor Romney for participating in free-market capitalism is just beyond the pale for any purported ‘Reagan Conservative.’ Newt Gingrich should stop his attacks on free markets and apologize to Governor Romney for them.”

Saundra Duffy:
"Gingrich is engaging in class warfare, side-by-side with the democrats."

No he is not.

Mr. Gingrich is protecting America from the pro-Sharia,
pro-911Victory Mosque, pro-TARP, pro-IAG, MITT ROMNEY.

We all know what a backstabbing, liar Romney is, so Mr. Gingrich
is acting like a true patriot.

Sure, And your still supporting him. AFTER he comes out with comments and an ad which reveal him (NEWT) to be ANTI-CAPITALIST!

I'd say that this rather clearly reveals Newt supporters as Anti-Capitalist/Communist/Statists.

Looks like the DNC and OWS have infiltrated to pressure others to vote for Gingrich, using typical irrational Leftist tactics.

Free trade is a political heist that can be colored pro business or pro union. IMHO, it is a political platform instituted by politicians to control and enforce favoritism.

My business doesn't entail direct overseas marketing. I don't buy or sell goods. We sell services and we do it very well.

If I take Newt's Bain commercial and apply it to my business over the years Newt would have me look like a bad guy. I built my business from nothing. I employed good people, trained them well and paid them well. After 30 years in the business I had an opportunity to sell my business to a large NYSE business. I was approaching my early 60’s, the economy was again tettering and I wanted to retire and spend time traveling with my wife and family. I sold the business and in the process knew that people would be let go and my organization restructured into the acquiring entity. People were laid off and offices reduced in size or closed.

So, what does that make me? A Bain Capitalist? I created wealth for me and my family. I provided jobs for more than 30 years to my employees. I provided training for many that left and started similar successful businesses.
I paid millions of dollars in capital gains taxes.

What kind of “monster” am I in Newt Gingrich's eyes? When I saw this anti-capitalism add it made me furious. It still does when I think of that short 30 second shot.

Newt has relied on the United States Government for his clients. I didn't. From what I can tell, Newt's fortunes were made on the backs of taxpayers. Mine didn't. It took 30 years to make my American Dream come true. Newt accomplished his in almost half the time with luxury offices in DC and a full staff. I started working in small rental office in the suburbs.

I apologize for not answering your free trade question. However, I feel better getting this off my chest. I won't watch anymore debates. I am not going for the Anyone But Obama Ticket.

Club for Growth is right.

Once again Newt fires and hits another bystander : Capitalism. Newt's the 'shoot from the hip' kind of guy and you never know what he will hit.

His rhetoric feeds perfectly into the 'bail out the auto industry' argument that Obama is using for re-election.

Yes, it is a crappy attack to make, vis-a-vis Capitalism. But Romney MUST be f-ing destroyed, by any means necessary. Wreck his campaign, leave him in disgrace, make his wife and children sob in despair. I do not care. No more f**king McCains!

1) Aligning corporate raiding to supply side growth economics is an insult to Reagan, Kemp, and Laffer.

2) If Mittens can’t defend his record on his own Obama will kill him in the general.

Defeat Mittens Kittens.

RE :"1) Aligning corporate raiding to supply side growth economics is an insult to Reagan, Kemp, and Laffer. 2) If Mittens can’t defend his record on his own Obama will kill him in the general."

It's OK with me if Newt wants to play the Obama-surgate and test Romney against Obama-style leftist arguments currently being made on MSNBC, even bringing him down that way is OK with me.
However Newt making their arguments so passionately isn't going to convince me or many others that Newt is sincere when he says he believes he 'made a mistake teaming with Pelosi on Climate change' and his other recent liberal adventures.

A fantastic idea! Just what we need to solve our unemployment problems -- let's elect a community organizer for President!

I think the TOTUS’s handlers wouldn’t let him debate Newt. They’d find some disingenious way to explain their decision, and the MSM would back them to the hilt.

“It’s OK with me if Newt wants to play the Obama-surgate”

Since Mittens is Obama Lite anyway, the surrogate things shouldn’t bother him.

To view how Romney savaged Gingrich in Iowa and expect anything less is to stick one’s head in the sand.

I think it is Romney who said it best, “it’s not bean bags”

You mean those ads that pointed out how Newt teamed up with Pelosi to make that climate change video together?

There is one difference, most of those ads went after Newt for his liberal adventures. They were not exactly the same attack approach that Obama will take. Newt is playing the Obama-MSNBC surrogate here testing Romney with the arguments they (Obama) will use. He will have trouble getting that liberal mud off his hands, but he might help Santorum move up against Romney.

Yep, but it's more like a suicide bombing, where the perp kills not only himself and his target, but also injures a lot of innocent bystanders -- like you and me.

It does not surprise me in the least that you do not see the problem of attacking capitalism as an economic model. CINOs are really outing themselves on this issue.

Actually I was referring to the liberal interpretation of sme events listed by Romney...

Like “Gingrich was ousted by his own”.

Very True...Boehner,Delay....Scarborough....to name a few, who went on to spend us into oblivion and ruin the Republican brand.

But you don’t get to respond to 11 million of ads and if you do, you are off message...

No problem.

Now Mittens can defend himself, with support from people like you btw and all of the Establishment pukes and their hypocritical indignation at the ads.

FUMR
