Why would athiests care what a football player does or does not do? Did they have apapletctic coniption fits when Chad “Ochocinco” pulled out sharpies or a cell phone after scoring a touch down?

Oh! That's right. If they don't like or agree with something then it has to be stopped and all forced to avoid the subject of their loathing.
How about atheists just ignore it.
Besides, God loves football and appreciates a shout out now and then. His agents work in plugs when they can.
