"That flies in the face of the democratic principle that our country is founded on, not only our little city. "

So does not paying your bills and stiffing your creditors. You wanna listen to da music you gotta pay da band.

So how long have democrats been in control of this city? Sounds like most of the cities in the country.

The borrower is slave to the lender

I think that is in one of those out-of-date books that no one reads any more because we are so much smarter and more sophisticated now days.

“So how long have democrats been in control of this city? Sounds like most of the cities in the country.”

All these government entities that have been living beyond their means are, in the end, going to suffer something akin to what’s going on in Central Falls. The residents, who are moaning now, should have realized long ago that this was going to be their city’s fate. And you are right, California, Illinois, and a bunch of other liberal-run states are going to have the same thing visited upon them and its not a long way off either.

The model of the future for Greece. Instead of having a German Gauleiter, they'll have a German receiver.

What, exactly, did the good people of Central Falls thing would happen if they lived on credit indefinitely?

"They're being governed without elected representation,"

"Taxation without representation" was the old battle cry. Some cynic replied, "You should see it WITH representation!".

Central Falls is located in the Providence metro area. It is a poor section of the area with a lot of public housing and many residents on the government dole. The median household income is only about half of the stage average. It's a grim, depressing place. The type of place people drive through with their windows rolled up and the doors locked. In other words, a typical liberal-run municipality.

Don’t know if it applies in *this* case, tho liberalism is all about never being held accountable, or a world without consequences. Still, what did they expect?

Central Falls, go get your damned “Democracy” from the lying, cheating, stealing, duplicitous progressive buttwipes you elected as your governance for all those years. Pay you damn bills - the ones you approved by voting for those cretins. You deserve NOTHING less.

After seeing the mayor, I picture him fiddling with his tie and pinky ring a lot and saying things like, “I’m gonna get the papers. Get the papers.”

>> Rhode Island’s smallest city lost something fundamental: its democratic government.

“Its Democrat government.”

We’re a Republic, damn it!

"They're being governed without elected representation," state Sen. Elizabeth Crowley said of Central Falls' 19,000 residents. "That flies in the face of the democratic principle that our country is founded on

They are in state receivership. Who in the he77 elected the state govt'? Californians?

Not making fiscally sound decisions and possibly inflicting your debts upon all citizens of the state rather than just your locality gives all state citizens an earned say in these matters.

Democrat politics creates a "Culture of Government":
A "Dream City" becomes a Waking Nightmare

Central Falls started the current fiscal year with a $6 million deficit, and multi-million-dollar deficits were projected for coming years. [ First receiver and former Superior Court Judge Mark] Pfeiffer blamed budget problems on "unsustainable" [union-based] pension and benefits costs and the lack of expected revenue from the Wyatt detention center; he also cited a "culture of government" in Central Falls that let deficits fester.

With decades of piling up plummy city pensions and happy-go-lucky hand-outs for all and sundry, Central Falls is the canary in the Democrat coal mine.

Can La-La Land be far behind in this race to insolvency?

After reading the article and the comments here, I have to wonder. Is the ‘city’ capable of surviving on it’s own? Or is it a parasite on the State and Nation exclusively?

The citizens of Central Falls also participated in the democracy that elected the officials who will oversee the supervisory board. They didn't lose democracy, they just bumped it up a level.
