He was forced to make a choice earlier than he wanted, and chose to pander to his base, as he'd lose too many of his supporters otherwise. He (and his minions) need every vote to remain even somewhat viable in this election. Passing off responsibility to the house won't hide the fact that this is his (and his minions) doing.

I call this treason...

Anyone taking a poll that before the elections can be held, some major event "occurs", requiring a suspension of the constitution and assumption of dictatorial powers to "save the republic"? Can you say "Preemptive Nuke Strike"?

Hold onto your butts, the next few months are going to get real interesting...

Is there one Democrat senator or member of congress who will go on record opposing this decision? When hell freezes over...

So now Obama can tell the Unions, “I didn’t let you down, it was that Pesky ol’ State Dept.” A contingent from Canada has already went to China to make plans to sell them the oil. China will probably make the pipe and ship it to Canada.

I have not heard one single candidate for president bring up gas prices!
They need to hang that issue around obamas neck.
$3.17 Tuesday AM in South Fort Worth TX.
$3.29 Wednesday AM same store 24 hours later.
Just the plan to run the Keystone pipeline would cause oil pricing to plunge.
We need cheap fuel, change out the resident of the white hut!!!

Trying to subdue the news? .... it's the State Dept., not "The One".

Because the pipeline crosses and international border, the state department gets to approve or rejected based upon the "best interests of the nation".

It is really the best leverage he has to stop it. Otherwise it would only be rerouted but not stopped.

Passing off responsibility to the house won't hide the fact that this is his (and his minions) doing.

That's exactly what is going to happen. By the time the summer rolls around the Dems and their propaganda arm--otherwise known as the mainstream media--will have a large percentage of brain-dead Americans convinced that this is the fault of House Republicans.

Rick Perry: Americans should be ‘unhinged’ by decision to reject Keystone pipe path
http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2012/01/18/rick-perry-americans-should-be-unhinged-decision-reject-keystone-pipe-path#ixzz1jpej0tHX
January 18, 2012

Asked about the imminent decision expected from the State Department that sources say will call for a rejection of the Keystone XL Pipeline from Canada to Texas, Republican presidential candidate and Texas Gov. Rick Perry said it’s no surprise, but it doesn’t make the decision any better.

“It doesn’t surprise me but it’s again — the president’s focused more on the next election than on the next generation.

“Getting this country independent of foreign sources of crude from countries that are not our friends is really problematic. So this Canadian oil, there’s a possibility we could lose it to China with that decision so I hope Americans will really become unhinged with that decision because it is a really bad decision for our country, for energy independence and sends a horrible message at a time that were headed to $4 and $5 oil or excuse me $4 or $5 gasoline, to have a neighbor who’s willing to sell us crude that is available.”

Under what authority does the State Department do this? This reeks of the corruption that “free trade” has spread throughout our government.

Constitutionally speaking it is Congress who should decide.

Bachmann spoke on the subject of gas prices fairly often, IIRC.

So now both Obama and Hillary are tainted with this decision.

Oddly, the Colonial Pipeline is perfectly OK... the "pipeline of prosperity."

But the Keystone XL Pipeline is horrid... the "pipeline of death."

What is the difference?
