Newt Gingrich’s woman problem [I push leftist propaganda on FR and all I got was this zot]
Washington Post ^ | 01/20/2012 | Felicia Sonmez

How will the details revealed by Marianne Gingrich regarding her former husband’s personal life – and Newt Gingrich’s defiant response – play out among the GOP presidential primary electorate?

But it’s worth keeping in mind that even before Marianne Gingrich went public, Newt Gingrich was already facing tough odds when it comes to his support among women nationally — a factor that underscores the argument made by his GOP rivals against his electability in the fall.

There typically tends to be a gender gap in presidential general elections, as women vote more Democratic than men.

But a CNN/Time/Opinion Research survey conducted Jan. 11-12 showed that among national adults, Gingrich faces the biggest gender gap of all the GOP contenders.

If the general election had been held in mid-January – before news of the Marianne Gingrich interviews had broken -- the CNN survey shows President Obama would have taken 54 percent to Gingrich’s 41 percent. Among only men, that gap narrows to a six-percentage point difference: 49 percent for Obama and 43 percent to Gingrich.

But among women, it widens to 18 points: 58 percent for Obama and 40 percent for Gingrich.

LOL, if it appears that way to you, then start detox.

Bachmann is destined for nothing more than minor roles, she just is not a leader, as evidenced by her zero accomplishments in a decade of being in legislative seats.

I’m going to vote for Newt, but I’m still going to say that FReeper was not a troll and I did not see a good reason to zot him. It’s okay if he doesn’t like Newt, chances are I don’t like his candidate either, in fact it’s almost certain. My candidate decided not to run, Sarah. Now my candidate is Newt for many reasons.

You don’t get it, Siena.

It’s about your viscious attacks on Newt while letting Mitt and Obuma slide. That’s the mark of an agent provocateur.

Your posting history is up-front that anyone can see. Either you’re a patriot or not. From what I see from your posts, you’re not a patriot.

All you do is attack Newt, all the time, relentlessly and with left wing venom. You are what you are as evidenced by your posts.

I’ve been in the political game for lots of years, and what i’m seeing is that the leftists have set you out on the ocean expecting to catch a whale.

Go back to your leftist handlers and tell them they’ve failed, or tell them to go to hell.

That’s what a patriot would do.

I don't like Newt for President for many reasons. I have never liked Romney either.

My reasons for not liking Newt are the same reasons most Freepers had up until a short time ago. I haven't changed my opinion even though many others have.

However, I will vote for the GOP nominee whoever it will be. I still wish a dark horse would step up to the plate but barring that will vote against Obama regardless.

From # 83:

Newt’s second wife, Marianne, was ‘dating’ a married man when she met him.

Seems ‘home wrecking’ isn’t foreign to her. "... she’s on really shaky ground.

Did Newt Gingrich corner Jackie in her hospital bed?

From Jackie Cushman Gingrich’s Townhall post, Setting The Record Straight, May 11, 2008:

As for my parents’ divorce, I can remember when they told me.

It was the spring of 1980. I was 13 years old, and we were about to leave Fairfax, Va., and drive to Carrollton, Ga., for the summer. My parents told my sister and me that they were getting a divorce as our family of four sat around the kitchen table of our ranch home.

Soon afterward, my mom, sister and I got into our light-blue Chevrolet Impala and drove back to Carrollton.

Later that summer, Mom went to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta for surgery to remove a tumor. While she was there, Dad took my sister and me to see her.

It is this visit that has turned into the infamous hospital visit about which many untruths have been told. I won’t repeat them. You can look them up online if you are interested in untruths. But here’s what happened:

My mother and father were already in the process of getting a divorce, which she requested.

Dad took my sister and me to the hospital to see our mother.

She had undergone surgery the day before to remove a tumor.

The tumor was benign.

Dead wrong. As I said, you are looking only at my recent history.

All you do is attack Newt

Wrong again. I have made only an occasional comment against Newt up until a few days ago. You shouldn't base your opinion on someone on just a few days' observation. That does not show mature judgment.

Go back to your leftist handlers

Yeah, right. Because I don't like Newt I have leftist "handlers". Look, buddy I speak only for myself. Sorry if you're too paranoid to believe it.

You should change your profile page. Please remove “conservative” as you have surrendered already. Leave the fight to us real men. It is still very early.....

Newt had a character issue and he resigned over it. I believe that he is a changed man, has received God’s forgiveness, and thus has earned the opportunity to lead.

I wouldn’t expect a Kalifornian to believe any of that religious mumbo jumbo and Newt hopefully won’t bail out your morally and economically bankrupt state that you call paradise.

Something that we can say about this embracing of Newt, is that as usual, the reality of politics as the options shrank, took hold.

What makes it easy to swallow this dose of medicine, is that Newt is earning it in spades, the only reason he is surviving, and now thriving, is because of his raw, personal, political power and force of will.

Newt is leading us to follow him by demonstrating his talents and dedication, and his ability to defeat our enemies.

New could use that as an excuse, if he were running against Marianne for the presidency. However, since he's running against Obama - who may or may not be gay, but has successfully been packaged by the media as a clean cut family man - he's definitely vulnerable to the charge of being a sleazy lothario.

Are you advocating that VERY productive American labor manufacture furniture and carpet? Really? Instead of turning our ingenuity loose, you prefer that we learn how to use loomkng machines? Really? Even FReepers amaze me as to how naive they can be.

Newt's succeeding because he's tapped into the raw anger and frustration of the conservative base. The Republican elite annointing Romney has infuriated many of us. Newt's giving us a voice.

I do worry about how Newt's attitude will play with the general public though and so I hope he can tone it down a bit once he gets the nomination. Then we'll need less shrill, more Reagan.

You can say that again. We can hate on GOP candidates all day long for their apostasy on select topics, but in the end, the GOP is the only game in town for right-wing voters who want to do more than send a message (by voting for fringe third party candidates or not voting at all).
